A handpainted Minton plaque by James Edwin Dean a portrait of the racehorse `Solario`, oil on porcelain, signed J E Dean and dated 1926, 10in (25.5cm) diameter. * Solario (1922-45) was winner of the St. Leger in 1925, and the Ascot Gold Cup and Epsom Coronation Cup in 1926, in partnership with the jockey Joe Childs.
An unusual and fine mid Victorian brass toilet mirror opening to reveal a diptych portrait photograph frame, the oval mirror plate within a ropework border set within a pierced, etched and scrolling frame with easel back, the mirror hinged and opening to reveal a pair of silk-lined and glazed oval photograph frames. 37cm

Portrait of a lady, c. 1850, quarter plate, jewellery in gold, some oxidising and burnishing, particularly to margins, orig. leather case, upper lid detached, a little wear, gilt-stamped addressed of 107 Regent Street now partly indistinct, plus four small ambrotypes of men and women including a ninth-plate hand-col. portrait of a soldier (lacks lid), plus one tintype. A gelatin silver print press photo, c. 1910, showing Hedin full length with arms folding and wearing a pith helmet with four Tibetans standing at the house entrance near him, negative number 2816(?) in the negative, stamps of George Haeckel to verso with overstampings by Otto Haeckel, typed caption image missing, together with a later head and shoulders portrait of Hedin, c. 1930, the photograph in a fur coat and hat with pince nez taken from another photo with background now removed, typed caption and wetstamp of George Haeckel to verso, both approx. 17 x 12cm.
