RM Tableaux anciens Alexis Simon BELLE (Paris 1674-1734) Portrait de Louis Alexandre de Bourbon, comte de Toulouse Toile 160 x 119 cm. Notre tableau est la reprise partielle d’un tableau conservé au Nationalmuseum de Stockholm, (L’Eau, d’une série de quatre éléments, toile, 141 x 114 cm). Cette partie basse a été reprise par Oudry dans une composition ovale (toile, 90 x 128 cm, signée et datée 1726, musée de Dijon). Signalons qu’Opperman mentionne « un tableau très semblable à celui de Dijon, rectangulaire et non ovale, non signé, avec un fond de paysage quelque peu différent [qui] se trouvait dans une collection privée à Lille en 1965 » (toile, 76 x 125 cm) (voir Hal Opperman, Jean-Baptiste Oudry, cat. Exp., Paris, 1982, cat. 36).

ET Tableaux anciens Nicolas-André MONSIAU (Paris, 1754-Paris, 1837) Un militaire achevant de peindre un portrait de femme Toile 119 x 102 cm Signé et daté en bas, à droite, sur la tête : N.Monsiau. 1779 (Restaurations et déchirures) Dans un cadre en bois sculpté et doré, travail français d’époque Louis XVI. Sans fortune mais remarqué et aidé par le marquis de Corberon, Nicolas Monsiau peut séjourner à Rome de 1776 à 1780. Il y suit les enseignements de l’Académie de France alors dirigée par Joseph-Marie Vien (1775-1781) et se passionne pour l’œuvre de Raphaël. Parmi les pensionnaires se trouve Jean-François Peyron, vainqueur du Prix de Rome en 1773 et son premier maître à l’Académie de Paris. Il côtoie également Jacques-Louis David et Henri de Valenciennes, grands noms du néo-classicisme. De retour à Paris, il expose régulièrement et se fait reconnaître jusqu’à être reçu à l’Académie comme peintre d’histoire le 3 octobre 1789. Il présente régulièrement ses œuvres au Salon des scènes d’histoire antique, notamment jusqu’en 1833. Sont ici représentés un militaire achevant de peindre un portrait de femme, probablement son épouse, et un enfant préparant une guirlande de fleurs. La beauté du rideau, la mise en lumière des visages qui ne sont jamais vus de face, la précision des objets représentés, la finesse de la matière sont des caractéristiques de l’œuvre de Nicolas Monsiau que l’on retrouve par exemple dans le portrait de groupe exposé à Versailles : Louis XVI donnant des instructions à La Pérouse le 29 juin 1785 (toile, 172 x 227 cm, signée et datée 1817).

PFD Objets d’art Mobilier Buste en marbre blanc représentant un homme en armure portant les insignes de l’ordre du Saint-Esprit. XVIIe siècle Hauteur : 77 cm (Usures, le revers du buste comblé en marbre à l’intérieur à une date postérieure). Ce type de portrait a été réalisé en France et dans les Flandres à la toute fin du XVIe siècle et au début du XVIIe siècle. L’attitude et le traitement de ce buste évoquent de façon assez précise le buste du peintre Martin Fréminet par Barthélemy Tremblay (1568-1629) conservé au musée du Louvre à Paris. Tremblay travailla au Louvre et au château de Fontainebleau. Il réalisa également les portraits d’Henri IV et de Louis XIII. Ces portraits appartiennent à un groupe de hauts personnages dans l’entourage de la cour, représentés en général frontalement, avec un grand soin apporté aux détails mais dont la plupart des attributions sont assez délicates à préciser.

India - Sikh Grand Portrait of HRH the Maharajah Duleep Singh the last Sikh King of Punjab. Large oil on canvas of grand proportions of the Sikh Maharajah. After Franz Xaver Winterhalter. English School - mid 20th Century. In the portrait the Maharaja is shown wearing his diamond aigrette and star in his turban and a jewel-framed miniature of Queen Victoria by Emily Eden. The original portrait is part of the royal collection housed at Osbourne house. Maharaja Duleep Singh was the last Maharajah of the Sikh Empire. He was the youngest son of the legendary "Lion of the Punjab" Ranjit Singh and JindKaur. A most fascinating regal portrait of the last Sikh Maharajah of the Punjab. Framed - 132 cm by 93cm (without frame) signs of toning and age - overall in very good condition. Provenance - Private English Collection.
