A late 18th/early 19th century English porcelain figure, in the form of a lady wearing an ermine cape and a floral dress, holding a flower and wearing a portrait miniature, losses and a firing crack, 27 cm high Condition report Report by GHBoth feet present. She is missing her little finger on her right hand and her little and fore fingers on her left hand. Also losses to foliage. The floral fascinator on the top of her head is slightly broken off.

Great War Ephemera of 2nd Lieutenant John Arthur Greenshields Yorkshire Light Infantry, who was awarded the Military Cross for Gallantry and Killed on 27th May 1918, grouping consists of large framed portrait photograph of 2nd Lieutenant Greenshields, printed Allan Glen’s School memorial roll 1914-1918, War Graves of the British Empire printed booklet, Newspaper cutting relating to his award of the Military Cross, plus other cuttings etc. John Arthur Greenshields was a native of Glasgow, Scotland. Educated at Allan Glen’s School in the city. He served with the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry in the 5th Battalion. He was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry during the First World War, the citation for which appeared in the London Gazette 26th July 1918, “For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He handled his company with the greatest efficiency. On one occasion he fought a severe rearguard action, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy, and extricating his company from difficult position, with the enemy close on his right rear. His courage, cheerfulness and untiring energy were a brilliant example to all ranks”. He was attached to the 9th Battalion of the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry when he was killed on 27th May 1918. He is remembered with honour at the Marfaux British Cemetery. He had a twin brother who was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O) during WW1 serving with the Highland Light Infantry and another brother who was killed as a private in the Highland Light Infantry in 1916.
