A commemorative pearlware lustre jug, c.1820, moulded and enamelled with a head and shoulders portrait of Thomas Denman, 1st Baron Denman, the reverse with Henry Brougham, each flanked by sprays of rose and thistle in pink, green and purple lustre, some restoration, 15.4cm. Henry Brougham and Thomas Denman led Queen Caroline's legal team during George IV's attempt to strip his estranged wife of her royal title. Their eloquent defence of the popular princess led to their instant fame. Brougham went on to be appointed Lord Chancellor in 1830, while Denman became Lord Chief Justice in 1832.
