BRITISH SCHOOL (19th Century) PORTRAIT OF JOHN ALLEN LLOYD PHILIPPS OF MABWS WITH HIS DOG Oil on canvas laid on panel, 93 x 74cm (36 1/2 x 29") John Allen Lloyd Philipps of Mabws was Captain in the 82nd Foot, Colonel of the Cardigan Militia and a Justice of the Peace. Born on 24 September 1824 he married Elizabeth, daughter of Richard Jones, Surgeon, Royal Dockyard Plymouth. Bears inscription on label verso

English school, a portrait of a gentleman, oil on canvas, 37 x 29 cm Condition report Report by GHMeasurement is of the visible canvas rather than the whole frame. The maximum measurements of the frame are 56 x 50 cm.Small hole and associated loss slightly below centre of the picture, on the gentleman's waistcoat. Another small hole to the left centre of the picture. Generally crazed and cracked. Frame with gold paint and losses to gesso.
MICHAEL COOTE (b1931); 2 oil / gouache on canvas painting portrait studies of women believed to be Sinead O'Connor and Liz Hurley. Both Signed to the corner being sold by the artists family. Measures Michael Coote studied as a photo lithographer, and is often credited as 'colour illustrator' on contemporary Sherlock Holmes publications being well renowned and a listed artist of some repute.
Luigi Petrone (19th century) Portrait of a young gentleman, head and shoulders, wearing a green jacket, a waistcoat decorated with flowers and a yellow neck tie, signed, oil on canvas, 63cm by 50.5cmIn fully restored condition, re-lined, cleaned and varnished, some surface dirt and discoloration to the varnish small to medium cracquelure throughout, particularly noticeable throughout the face and torso (now stable) various paint losses (four approximately 1cm each to the centre left of the sitter). Two further losses right of sitters lapel. Various other minor paint losses throughout, significant paint losses along the lower edge, particularly below the signature lower left and a smaller cluster lower right hand side corner, stretcher marks faintly visible, surface rubbing throughout, various pressure marks from the back of the canvas, surface thinning, possible restoration on the right hand lapel and right hand side edge. A bronze figure dedicated to Ethel Cuming, as a token of appreciation of helpful service 1914-1919 war together with pastel portrait of Ethel as a child and a small silver flask (3) Figure (bronze) - 26.5cm high, 35.5cm high including plinth. Signed Paul R Montford to side. Possible loss of tip to bayonet. Otherwise overall condition good. Ebonised plinth with chips and general signs of wear. Flask - signs of wear but overall condition good. Portrait - generally in good condition, though frame with damages.

Bloom throughout the surface as a result of damp, also noticeable on the sitters face. Some paint losses lower left and lower centre. Cracquelure throughout with some slight lifting of the paint. Slight bowing of the canvas as a result of the canvas being too loose on the stretcher. Some restoration to damage lower centre. A large repair and restoration lower centre. Not examined out of the frame, not examined under a uv light Drawing - Paper uneven, slightly buckled some considerable fading throughout surface dirt throughout, slight rubbing/smudging to areas of pencil. A portrait miniature pendant of a lady in a scrollwork frame set with four turquoise cabochon, measures 2.6cm by 3.8cm, in a leather case, and a fancy link chain, length 50cm, with paperwork and original purchase receipt from Sigma Jewellery, dated Dec 2nd 1976Good condition overall. Possibly previously adapted into a brooch. Case not a perfect fit - hollowed out in a circular shape. No hallmark, nor stamps. Chain with bolt ring catch, and applied plaque marked '15CT'. Pendant weight 5.4g, chain weight 8.4g. CR made 12.08.16

Heavy cracquelure and lifting of paint across the face and torso of the sitter. Thickening of paint and bitumen marks throughout. Re-lined with considerable restoration throughout. Restoration of tears and over-painting throughout.
