AFTER SIR ANTHONY VAN DYCK PORTRAIT OF KING CHARLES I feigned oval, oil on canvas, 39.5 x 30.5cm and a portrait of King Henry VIII after Holbein by the same hand, oil on panel, 32 x 26cm (2) ++Both old, probably early 19th c copies, by a naive hand, that of Charles I with extensive restoration, principally retouched paint shrinkage and relined, now of satisfactory appearance, the portrait of Henry VIII also in ready to hang condition with evidence of it having been reduced in size, in matching modern silvered wood frames
CHRISTIAN FRIEDRICH ZINCKE (1683/4-1767) ISAAC BORROW OF DERBY enamel, 33 x 27mm, giltmetal frame, the reverse engraved with the arms of Borrow impaling Burton Isaac Borrow was born at Hulland Hall, Derbyshire in 1673. The Borrow family had long been established at Gotham and Thrumpton near Nottingham. Borrow married firstly, in St Paul's Cathedral, London, Mary Tempest (1681-1702) and secondly in 1708 Honor, daughter of Thomas Burton of Putney (d 1710) at All Hallows Church Barking. The present miniature may therefore be a marriage portrait dating to c1708/9 when Borrow would have been aged about 36. He purchased Castlefields, a particularly grand provincial baroque house in Derby and was twice Mayor of the town, in 1730 and 1742. A son of this marriage, Thomas Borrow, was Recorder of Derby. His portrait and that of his wife was painted by Joseph Wright of Derby in 1762. Their son, also Thomas, changed the family name to Burrough. Isaac Borrow died in July 1745. ++In fine condition, not cracked or chipped and a portrait of an important local Derbyshire figure

Albert Wiegel Cassel 1897, on spiral stem and spreading foot, 28.5cm h Provenance: Given to the father of the present vendor by a German nobleman, c1945. Albert Wiegel (1869-1943), one of the foremost German glass engravers of the 19th century. See the article in Journal of Glass Studies, Corning, 1973. Albert (1828-1902) became King of Saxony in 1873. ++Some very slight wear to the gilding on the rim but not damaged, not cracked or chipped and no evidence of grinding

She was represented by the Portal Gallery in London. Her work is included in the National Self Portrait Collection in Limerick. She illustrated many of her mother's children's books.
