EARLY SEVENTEENTH CENTURY ENGLISH SCHOOL oil on canvas - half portrait of Sir Richard Bolton wearing ruff colour & holding a scroll with one hand & a pendant suspended from his neck with the other, to the top right corner of the painting an open book with text relating to Sir Richard's professional career in Ireland. Sir Richard Bolton was Attorney-General to the Court of Wards, Dublin & Solicitor-General for Ireland. The painting is dated 1620 to the left & 1620 at the bottom text within the open book (afore mentioned), 75 x 68cms Provenance: the vendor's great-grandfather took ownership of the painting after it was salvages from a fire at The Rectory in Coychurch, near Bridgend, South Wales Condition: the painting has been damaged in many areas particularly the left of the canvas, there are holes within the middle of the canvas & it is applied to board and there have been old repairs. Extensive restoration required.

TOTTENHAM 1901 Tin badge showing Tottenham Hotspur team group, 1901, the year that they won the English FA Cup whilst still a Southern League team. Badge is in very good condition, complete with pin, no rust and inscription on the reverse of the badge can be clearly seen and reads "Manufactured by the Merchants Portrait Co London , Pettingall Photographer Chingford ", The badge has a diameter slightly over 3cms. Seldom seen in this condition. Good

§ An extremely important Portrait of René Lalique by his artist daughter Suzanne Lalique (1892-1989) oil on canvas, depicting Rene seated at his desk, signed and dated 1931, 26 x 32in.Provenance: Commissioned by Miss Jessie Boot, collection of The Hon. Majorie Holman, Lord Trent, collection of Mary-Lou Utt (well known Lalique collectors and authors of books on perfume bottles by Lalique), sold by Sotheby's New York, 11th June 1993 Lot 381 for the collection of Mr Joel Shapiro, purchased at Christie's London, 14th Nov. 2017 Lot 48 for the collection of G.G.Weiner.René Lalique (1860-1945) was a French glass designer known for his creations of glass art, perfume bottles, vases, jewellery, chandeliers, clocks and car mascots. In 1892 Lalique had a daughter by his second wife, whom they named Suzanne. Suzanne became an accomplished designer and painter in her own right, without any formal art training. Growing up as close to the great Lalique as one can get, was all the training required. Her vase designs cover two pages in the R.Lalique Catalogue Raisonne, and her paintings and decorative arts are now spread throughout the world. At least two René Lalique production vases were designed by Suzanne Lalique; the vases Sophora and Penthievre.This work is the only recorded portrait of René Lalique painted in his lifetime.
