An antique cut steel chatelaine with a complement of accessories, including a tinder box, a pin cushion in the form of a horseshoe and a miniature taper chamberstick; together with a Georgian woven hair bracelet with oval pinchbeck clasp enclosing a portrait miniature on ivory of a gentleman, the clasp 1 7/16in x 1 1/4in. BALLET: An album of 40 photographic picture postcards of ballet dancers, 14 of which are signed by the subjects, i.e. Margot Fonteyn (5, two of which also signed by Leonide Massine); Moira Shearer (7, one of which also signed by John Hart); Leonide Massine; and Pauline Clayden; the endpapers of the album also bearing 14 signatures of dancers, including Alexis Rassine, Michael Somes, Pamela May. Alexander Grant, Julia Farron, Margaret Dale, & Richard Ellis. Together with Arnold Haskell's Ballet Vignettes (1948) in which four of the portraits have been signed by the subjects, i.e. Robert Helpman, Margot Fonteyn, Alexandra Danilova, and Moira Shearer. Together with a half-plate photograph by Baron of Leonide Massine signed by the subject; a programme of "An Evening of Ballet" boldly signed by Fonteyn across her cover portrait; and a small autograph album containing a few signatures, e.g. Margot Fonteyn and Alexis Rassine.
Christopher R.Wynne Nevinson (1889-1946) Battersea Pencil, watercolour, gouache, pen and ink Inscribed with title and '25 gns' by the artist on a studio label on reverse 24cm x 35cm This painting is sold with three letters from Nevinson to R.J.Minney, written in 1936 from 1 Steele's Studios, Haverstock Hill, NW3. These discuss potential portrait commissions and an article he has been requested to write by R.J.Minney but feels unable to complete due to lack of time. The vendors husband R.J.Minney edited publications such as The Strand Magazine in the 1930's and later War Weekly from October 1939 to August 1941.

Marie Laurencin, 1885-1956 portrait signed, dated and dedicated A DIANA/1951 oil on board 25.5 by 21cm.; 10 by 8Iin. One of the first paintings that the Menuhins purchased together was by the same artist. Yehudi Menuhin mentions the occasion in his autobiography. "Diana trained me to appreciate painting and sculpture and spurred me to acquire examples. An early painting which we bought together was by Marie Laurencin, on a visit to her Paris studio soon after the war." Provenance Diana Menuhin (a gift from the artist)

A late 17th century/early 18th century French oval mounted ivory patch box, with a pique-work cover and base and a stand away hinge, opening to reveal the symbolic miniature portrait of a seductive lady with a bow and arrow, two doves in attendance, a flowing gown and ships in the distance, the cover hinging open further to reveal the portrait of yet another seductive young lady at her toilette and the portrait of a young gentleman in a powdered wig with an unbuttoned jacket, (on paper behind glass), no apparent makers' mark, struck with charge and discharge marks, apparently for Paris 1684, probably dating from 1700-1720.
A George III miniature portrait ring, depicting a gentleman wearing a white cravat and red waistcoat, engraved Tho Stapylton OBT 14 Apr 1730 AEt 24. (Broken glass and damaged white enamel to the shank). With a miniature portrait believed to be the same gentleman painted in the ring in a small oval shagreen case.
