Style of Thomas Hudson (English 1701-1779) 'Portrait of a Seated Lady Holding a Garland of Flowers' Oil on canvas, approx 1204x102cm, framed. (illustrated) CONDITION REPORT: Picture looks to have been cleaned / restored. Canvas has some age to it. Under UV lamp signs of re-touching to chest, hands, background etc. Canvas tight, all keys to frame present. Nails to the canvas frame. Canvas frame secured with modern brackets. Frame damaged. Looks to be 18th century.
A portrait miniature (British 18th Century), "Simon Foote" Inscribed verso, died 1795 Lieutenant Colonel the 23d Fusilliers at Port, watercolour, unsigned, 12x10cms, and a companion lady three quarter length miniature, watercolour, each framed and a third miniature possibly the same gentleman, oil painting within an Hogarth style frame. 17x13cms. (3) CONDITION REPORT: Lot 1874 Painting of a Gentleman distinct yellowing throughout, noticeable bloom, overall poor condition. Portrait of Lady noticeable yellowing to the paper, small area of water damage to the chin, colours very dulled and dark, free from tears and rips. Miniature of Officer please note the miniature is paper laid on board, so the verso of the miniature is unknown, darkening to the background, water damage to the right side above the arm, small area of water damage and possible overpaint throughout.
A pair of brass trap lamps Each with concave brass and glass panelled fronts, bowfront hinged back door, each handle of cylindrical form with bell shape bases enclosing detachable burners, 24.5cm, a Napoleon III style French brass finial, the crowned eagle with outstretched wings with a circular aperture, 23cm, and a bronze portrait bust of Arthur Duke of Wellington, head and shoulders, 18cm (4).
A Staffordshire Pearlware Nelson Commemorative bowl, English circa 1805 Printed in blue and white, the central roundel depicting a half length portrait before five ships at sea, inscribed in the ring "England expects every man to do his duty" flanked by battle trophies and motto's and verse with a leaf and flower border, 17cms. CONDITION REPORT: Loss of glaze to rim approximately 1 inch long. Overall discolouration and fine crazing.
