Geo Strath – original cabinet golfing portrait photograph mounted on the original photographer`s card by Chapman & Co Brooklyn. Note: George Strath was appointed Troon`s first Professional in 1881and was the first Scottish Professional to emigrate to the United States to Brooklyn, New York. Don Bradman signed cricket ball display – to commemorate Don Bradman`s remarkable record batting achievement scoring 974 runs and 3x double centuries in a test series which still stands today. The cricket ball is specially made and endorsed by the late Sir Donald Bradman and features a colour portrait inlaid to the face of the authentic red leather period style cricket ball together with a gold edged personally autographed plaque which graces a hand-turned base and brass plaque detailing Bradman`s batting record throughout the 5 match test series. The production was limited to 974 and comes with a personally signed coa on the base and no. 502 – typical of the man who was always keen on the minutest detail before putting his signature to anything – a great item fitting one of the greatest if not greatest batsman of all time

Read 1st ed ltd to 250 copies bound in 3/4 leather and matching green cloth boards with decorative gilt spine - 268pp - 3 pages of advertisements. Portrait frontis, 25 plates- comprising an account of the early history of the game and autobiography of the Surrey batsman who played in 18 Tests for England. This book is one of the cornerstones of cricket book library - anyone interesting in the county game during the latter part of the 19th century, with good chapters also on Hambledon, club cricket in Surrey, early matches at Lord`s, gambling, public school cricket, and much more. A late Victorian diamond set portrait miniature pendant on a later Art Deco chain, the painted miniature of a lady in a muslin dress with pink roses, glazed to a frame of old Swiss cut diamonds, articulated below a diamond set bow, with concealed hook bale. Suspended on a later Art Deco trombone and trace link chain with dispersed pearls. Pearls untested
A cased Art Deco Cartier diamond and onyx lapel watch, c.1920, the oval brooch top with a central ‘GM’ diamond set monogram, to milligrain set diamond lines of French cut calibré onyx with crescent ends, to an outer border of milligrain set diamonds. The fob composed of a pair of articulated offset square calibré French cut onyx and diamond clusters, to a trefoil diamond cluster, with milligrain set diamond hoop and bars. The oval watch with back case set with a central offset French cut diamond, to a border of calibré French cut onyx, pavé set diamonds to a matching onyx line and milligrain set outer diamond border. Silvered dial with black Roman numerals and blued spade hands. Signed ‘Cartier, Paris, Breveté Sans Garantie du Gouvernement’. Rose cut diamond set winder. French poinçon for platinum. Case no. 6489 and 4680. Fitted Cartier case, screwdriver deficient. The initials are those of the actress Gertie Millar. This watch may have been a present from Lord Dudley, her second husband. The vendor’s mother was on the stage at the same time as Gertie and was left the watch in Gertie’s will. As a child, the vendor used to meet Gertie regularly. Gertie Millar was born in 1879 in Bradford and started her career at the age of 13 playing in ‘Babes in the Wood’ at the St. James Theatre in Manchester. Later she moved to London, and by 1897 she was well established as a stage favourite.In 1902, she married Lionel Monckton, a talented composer of musical comedies, who subsequently wrote a number of hit songs for her. Monckton died in 1924 and, two months later, Gertie married the Earl of Dudley. Gertie Millar, the working-class girl from Yorkshi£52,354, which was a substantial sum of money in the early 1950s. As The Countess, Gertie had her portrait painted by Sir William Orpen. The National Portrait Galley has a small exhibition: ‘Gertie Millar, Countess of Dudley: From Stage to Society’, which runs until 16 December 2012. re who grew up to be one of the best loved stars and most photographed women of the Edwardian era, had become Lady Dudley. Gertrude, Countess of Dudley, died at her home in Chiddingfold in 1952 aged 73. She left an estate valued at
