18th Century Italian School and Early 19th Century English School. A Garland of Flowers surrounding a circular niche with an inset Portrait of a Victorian Noble Lady, Possibly wearing the Three Star Diamond Brooches of the Duchess of Argyll, Oil on Canvas, bears an Inscription 'Armande de Lusignan', Unframed, 32.5" x 44".
Francis David ("Frank") Millet (1846-1912) American. Portrait of a Man with a Moustache, Oil on Canvas, Signed on the reverse, Unframed, 22" x 16". Provenance: The artist's family and thence The Reverend A Harvey. Exhibited: Broadway Arts Festival June 2010. Together with a copy of the illustrated hardback book on the artist "Soldier of Fortune" by Joyce Sharpey-Schafer (Utica, New York 1984), two (2). Notes; Frank Millet was the founder in 1884 of a small group of artists, including Americans, in Broadway Gloucestershire. Millet lived at both Farnham House and Russell House, and the group included John Singer Sargent whose painting 'Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose' was commenced in Frank and Lily's garden in Broadway, the title being a tribute to Frank's wife. Millet was a First Class passenger aboard the Titanic in 1912, and was among the many who lost their lives.
Arthur Trevor Haddon (1864-1941) British. Three quarter length Portrait of Captain John Wilfred Jenkinson (1871-1915), Seated on a ledge in a Garden, Oil on Canvas, Signed and Dated 1908, and Inscribed on a label on reverse, Unframed, 52" x 34". Notes: Jenkinson was the first lecturer in Embryology at the University of Oxford where a Lectureship has been established in his memory. He was killed at Gallipoli in June 1915 while serving with 12th Worcestershire Regiment.

Private collection of Arts and Crafts jewellery. Exhibited Arthur & Georgie Gaskin, City Museum & Art Gallery, Birmingham 11 February-21st March 1982, then The Fine Art Society 29th March-30th April 1982, page 16-17, illustration no.22, catalogue number A13.

Florence Kate Upton (1873-1922)PORTRAIT STUDY OF A GIRL, HEAD AND SHOULDERSSigned l.l., oil on canvas59 x 44cmNow more widely known for her 'Golliwogg' books, Florence Kate Upton was also a successful society portraitist. John Singer Sargent particularly admired her paintings of children and recommended clients to her. Sargent painted Lord Ribblesdale (National Gallery) whilst Florence K Upton painted his wife. The artist's biographer, Dr Norma S. Davis, has dated this work to around 1914.
