EDMOND BROCK Portrait of Her Majesty The Queen and her children, Their Royal Highnesses Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret Rose. Sold with a letter from Her Majesty The Queen to Edmond Brock and dated November 13th, 1933, written from Carberry Tower, Musselburgh. "Dear Mr Brock Your letter has been forwarded to me here in Scotland, and I write now to say how delighted I should be for you to do a portrait of Margaret Rose. It is exactly what I long for, and so far, in her short life she has not yet been painted. There is nobody whom I would rather have than yourself to do this. The portraits of Elizabeth are a real joy. I have been meaning to ask you for some time whether you would care to paint a "family picture" of myself and our two daughters. And if you could do this, might I ask what sort of price it would be? I do not like to mention prices etc., but I would like to pay for it, and if you would paint us all, it would be a delicious picture I know. Please let me know, and do not hesitate one moment if you feel that you would rather not embark on a family group. I would be very glad if you would come to Piccadilly one morning to discuss the portrait of Margaret Rose. I will send a telephone message when I get to London, and am very excited and pleased at the idea of the picture. With so many thanks for your kind suggestion, I am, Yours very sincerely Elizabeth"
