A mid 20th Century miniature depicting young boy in red tie, signed "Longmate", together with a miniature of a mid 20th Century portrait of a young man in regimental jacket and a further miniature depicting a young boy in white robes, housed in a green leather case, inscribed "Adolphus Tear Ipswich" to back CONDITION REPORTS Young man has an area of flaking to right ear, a spot of flaking to the forehead and a "spot" to the upper lip. Young boy in white lip appears to have been overpainted. All three are dirty, and have general wear and tear conducive toage and use.
John Smart, 18th century oval portrait miniature painted on ivory, believed to be of Charles Cornwallis 1st Marquess Cornwallis (1738-1795), in Lieutenant-General's uniform, monogrammed JS and dated 1786 with I below for India, in gilt metal frame with bead edge, ribbon to the top and velvet back, maximum diameter 2.5ins Condition report: been entered by a local private lady who tells us that it has been in the family for a number of years

T Wheeler (British, exh. 1817-1845) Portrait miniature of a gentleman, 1836 Inscribed in ink on the reverse and dated 'Painted by / T Wheeler / 55 Regent / Quadrant / March 1836' watercolour on ivory 10.20 x 8cm (4 x 3in) T. Wheeler exhibited as a "Miniature Painter" at the Royal Academy every year from 1817 to 1845. His address is given as 184, Fleet Street. However, another exhibitor, Miss M.A. Wheeler (afterwards Mrs. David Johnston) Painter, who exhibited in 1834 and 1835, is listed with the address 55, Regent Quadrant. She may be his daughter. It is signed TWheeler = so possibly by T. Wheeler, but perhaps stayed at a different address, with his daughter, in 1836. Unframed and the surface is warped. Cream edges are discoloured. Central image is clear and good. Top left-hand corner is missing.

§ Monica Rawlins (Welsh, 1903-1990) Portrait of Pat, aged 7 inscribed lower right "Pat / aged 7" with "Michael, aged 5" to the reverse pencil and watercolour, in a white painted frame 34 x 16cm (13 x 6in) Provenance: From the collection of Elisabeth Luard, Brynmeheryn. Frame a bit wobbly and there is dirt under the glass.
