While working as the court painter to the Duke of Milan, Ludovico Sforza, he entertained Leonardo da Vinci upon his arrival to Milan in 1483 and is known to have worked with Leonardo da Vinci and with his own brother Evangelis, in the altarpiece of the Virgin of the Rocks for the Confraternity of the Conception.
