An early 19th Century circular papier mache snuff box, the cover painted naive portrait of a lady wearing yellow hat and scarf, 3in. (7.5cms); and a tortoiseshell needle case of knife box form with silver plaque to 'E. Hargreaves' hinged cover, 2 1/8in. (5.5cms) high; and a Victorian mother-of-pearl rectangular card case, with concertina style interior, 4 1/4in. (11cms). (3)
Alexander Blaikley (1816-1903) A PORTRAIT OF TWO CHILDREN - GEORGE WALLER STOPFORD AND HIS SISTER MABLE CATHERINE HOLDING A TOY POODLE signed and dated 1873 pastel on tinted paper 64 x 51cms; 25 1/4 x 20in. oval. NB George and Mable were the eldest two of five children of James Sydney Stopford and Katherine Mary Waller. PROVENANCE Sold by direction of a family descendant.
Printer's samples: c1950 26 page advertising booklet entitled "Collogravure Recess and Surface Printing applied to the Production of Postage and Revenue Stamps, Bank Notes and Security Work", by Harrison & Sons, Ltd., the booklet contains 166 'stamps', 16 different types are represented in blocks of 8, 10 or 16 which also includes one banknote progressive proof of frame with portrait similar to some of the Harrison Specimen stamps, the 'stamps' include Harrison Specimen stamps, Specimen 'stamps' resembling those issued for the Netherlands, Denmark, Argentina South Africa and UK, fine and fresh
