A LARGE EARLY VICTORIAN PRESENTATION SNUFF BOX of rectangular serpentine outline, with engraved convex sides, with the arms of Howard on the front, the cover embossed with roses, thistles & shamrock within a scroll border and surrounding a scroll-bordered cartouche, engraved with the arms of the Worshipful Company of Ironmongers, the gilt interior inscribed inside the cover "26th July 1849 Presented by the Worshipful Company of Ironmongers to THOMAS HOWARD ESQUIRE, the late Master for his able conduct in the chair, his businesslike manner of conducting their affairs, his successful efforts to uphold the dignity of the company and for his affability and kindness at their SOCIAL MEETINGS", by C. Reily and G. Storer, London 1849 (in original fitted case); 6.2" (15.7 cms) long; 22.6 oz *Sold with a small Victorian portrait photograph of the recipient of this box: Thomas Howard (1796-1872).
A LATE 19TH CENTURY AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN CANTEEN OF FLATWARE & CUTLERY with plain "fanned" terminals and a short band of reeding on the upper & lower stem:- Fourteen table spoons, seventeen table forks, sixteen small dessert spoons, nine dessert forks, thirteen tea spoons, eleven coffee spoons, one salt spoon, six fish knives, six fish forks, a fish serving knife & fork, a pair of salad servers, a small serving slice, a cold meat fork and seven table knives and twelve side knives with later stainless steel blades, each piece engraved with a coronet and the initials "L.M", the majority with the maker's mark "AP", Vienna c.1900 (post 1886, pre 1922) in an oak canteen box; the box measuring 20.5" (52 cms) long; 159.7 oz weighable silver *Sold with a miniature portrait of Lola Montez (1821-1861), notorious dancer, actress & author of Irish descent, whose original name was Eliza Rosanna Gilbert, Countess of Landsfield. Also sold with two monogrammed linen napkins.

(curved/warped, unmounted and unframed), contained in blue morocco case; a Georgian papier mache/composite oval snuff box, 6.5cm wide (cover detached|) and a pewter inkwell of flared square form with incised decoration of fish (damaged liner), 11cm wide. Victorian brass portrait camera lens by Andrew Ross of London, no. 2924, 4½" diam., contained in leather case. Condition report: Leather case stained and leather strap broken. Brass hood 4 1/2" diameter, glass approx. 3". Two loose strips visible inside, very dirty, no visible cracks or chips to glass, but possibly some light scratches. Screw top currently seized up, rack and pin not working. Hood rim slightly misshapen and worn and dent to other brass rim. SOLD AS SEEN.
