A Victorian Carte de Visite of William T Stead (Titanic Casualty), dated 1885, wearing a prisoner's uniform, together with some research material. **William T Stead was imprisoned for campaigning against the "White Slavery of Children", the law was later changed and the age of consent was raised from thirteen to sixteen years. He was later nominated for the first Nobel Peace Prize for his work. William T Stead was onboard the ill fated Titanic following an invite from the US President to attend a Peace Conference in New York. (There is now a memorial to him in Central Park.) Prior to this Stead published two articles predicting the collision with an iceberg and the sinking of a White Star liner and the subsequent high loss of life due to the lack of lifeboats. He inadvertantly predicted his own death as he went down with the ship. Together with a Portrait Photograph of his nephew George Kenneth Stead, who was a Captain in a Yorkshire Regiment attached to the Royal Flying Corps.

The opposite side carved with a heraldic crest within a cartouche and figures riding mythical beasts.
