A late 19th century oak 'Wainscot' style open armchair, arched cresting carved with a stylised floral lunette, the back panel carved with a portrait of Geoffrey Chaucer, flanked by spirally-turned supports, downswept arms terminating in dragon hand rests, panel seat, turned and blocked forelegs, turned forefeet, 127cm high, 61cm wide, the seat 46cm wide and 41cm deep
A group of four 19th Century Staffordshire pottery flat backed portrait figures and figure groups to include; 'Marquess of Lorne', 'Princess Louise', 33 & 32cm high approx. 'Prince and Princess' 25cm high approx and another Scottish gentleman and his lady, 28cm high approx. (4)(B.P. 21% + VAT) All have minor wear and rubbing to paint in places. Some have crazing, none display obvious damage.
A good collection of five 19th Century pottery commemorative jugs to include; Prince of Wales and Princess Alexandra blue transfer printed marked J & MPB & Co, a Staffordshire pottery Lorne design portrait commemorative jug believed to be Prince of Wales and Princess Alexandra, a George IV baluster shaped jug 'To the memory of his Late Majesty King George IV' marked with initials G.B.H, another King William IV and Queen Adelaide crowned September 1831 and another baluster shaped transfer printed jug 'Union Reform'. 17 to 21cm high approx. (B.P. 21% + VAT) No significant damage noted. The William IV and Queen Adelaide jug is badly discoloured and crazed, otherwise good.
A Harvey Thomas Caerfyrddin Welsh lustre pottery portrait figure of William Morgan, translator of the first Welsh bible 1588, impressed and incised marks to the base. 30cm high approx. Together with another Harvey Thomas pottery lustre figure of Mari Jones Orbala, 25cm high approx. (2)(B.P. 21% + VAT) Glaze fault to the base to the William Morgan but no other obvious damage.
Three 19th Century Staffordshire pottery religious portrait figures, 'G.H Spurgeon', 'Sanky' and 'J Bryan'. 33 and 27cm high approx. (3) (B.P. 21% + VAT) All have crazing and minor wear in places with some losses to paint. Spurgeon has crack to pillar and firing crack to base and has lost a finger.
A Victorian yellow enamelled locket pendant, the cover with an enamelled portrait of a masked women in 18th century attire, with small rose cut diamonds set to eyes, 35mm x 28mm, two compartments to interior, weight 10.2gmsCR; Diamonds are in tact, and secure in their settings. There is a small chip to the left side of a portrait, though it does not expose the metal beneath. There is some light scratching and wear to the enamel, but it is largely it good order. There is moderate scratching and tarnish to the front and reverse, but no denting, thinning, splitting or repair. One of the glazed panels to the interior is missing, but the remaining one is in good order. The red fabric to the interior is heavily frayed and worn. Hinges operating smoothly and securely. Clasp is firm but does open, and closes with a snap.Please note: The yellow metal is unmarked, and untested.
EDWARD VIII INTEREST: Sir William Goscombe John R.A. (1860-1952), a tondo plaster portrait plaque commemorating the investiture of Edward, Prince Of Wales in 1911, aged 17, possibly a study for the issued Royal Mint commemorative medallion by Goscombe John which depicts the Prince crowned and robed in the same pose, signed in the cast, inscribed verso in pencil 'modelled from life at Buckingham Palace 1911' and signed in pencil 'W. Goscombe John R.A.', 22.5cm diameter

WITH NUMEROUS ADDITIONS AND NOTES, PREFACE AND INDEX, green cloth boards, inscriptions to front free endpaper, engraved frontispiece depicting Sir Thomas Egerton Viscount Brackley, further engraved portrait plates throughout, Isaac Foulkes, Liverpool 1887, with Pennant (T), THE JOURNEY FROM CHESTER TO LONDON, 3/4 green leather, red marbled boards, marbled endpapers, engraved frontispiece, further engraved plates, Wilkie and Robinson et al, London 1811, and Blaikie (W.B.), ITENERARY OF PRINCE CHARLES EDWARD STUART, later edition, Scottish Academic Press, Edinburgh 1975 (3) CONDITION REPORT:All the books appear to be complete but none of them have been fully collated. THE ROYAL TRIBES OF WALES and THE JOURNEY FROM CHESTER... each show shelf ware, corner bumps and spine wear. THE ROYAL TRIBES shows various loose sections within the binding. The block of THE JOURNEY is more tightly bound, but is splitting away from the spine.
Spanish school (19th century),Portrait of a young girl holding a jug with mountains and lake beyond,Oil on canvas,Unsigned,30.5cm x 25cm,Framed CONDITION REPORT:The canvas is not tight on the stretcher but, but appears securely attached. The paint surface shows expected craquelure, with some areas of the lower and upper sky showing finer craquelure over what appears to be light staining and scuffing. There are further areas of finer craquelure and wear to the lower parts of the headdress. The back of the canvas shows a craquelure pattern which partially corresponds to the worn areas on the front of the picture. Examination under UV shows no evidence of repair or restoration. There is a loss to the top edge of the lower frame mount over almost its full length, so the canvas does not fit perfectly into the frame and shows wear to the edges as a result of the consequent movement. The frame shows losses to the moulded details, particularly at the bottom left hand corner.

The paint to the background on the right hand side of the face appears slightly thinner than that on the left, and appears to be slightly scuffed in places. Inspection under UV reveals evidence of restoration, particularly to the hair, and a small unvarnished area on the right hand side.
SLAVERY INTEREST: A Pratt ware plate, circa 1820, decorated with a central portrait relief of 'H. Brougham Esq. M.P.' (Lord High Chancellor who played a prominent role in passing the 1832 Reform Act and 1833 Slavery Abolition Act) within a border of continuous flowering blooms, 15cm diameter, with two further pearl ware plates titled 'Fortune Teller', 15.5cm diameter, and 'St. Knuds Kirke I Odense', 17.5cm diameter (3) CONDITION REPORT:Portrait plate: Shows firing pits and frits, star crack centred on bow tie and surface crazing throughout.Fortune Teller plate: Shows a small chip to the rim, surface wear, surface crazing, and firing pits and frits throughout.St Knuds plates: Shows a small chip to the rim, surface wear, surface crazing, and firing pits and frits throughout.
A Coalport dessert service, late 19th century, comprising a comport and eight plates, each piece with gilt floral and foliate central motif surrounded by floral swags with classical portrait centres within entwined ribbon and gilt beaded shaped rim, printed maker's marks to bases, the compote 13.5cm high, the plates 23.5cm (9) (at fault)
