American School, mid-late 19th century- Portrait of Confederate Lieutenant General Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson, half-length in full Confederate uniform, his hand on the hilt of his sword, with a mountain river landscape beyond; oil on canvas, 45x35cm Note: A similar portrait of "Stonewall" Jackson by J W King dated 1864 after an unknown hand is held by National Portrait Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution. This portrait also bearing a likeness to General Jackson`s "Chancellorsville" Portrait, taken at a Spotsylvania County farm on April 26, 1863, seven days before his fatal wounding at the Battle of Chancellorsville. At the Battle of Manassas in 1861, the courage with which Confederate General Thomas Jonathan Jackson held his position inspired a general to rally his troops with the cry, "There is Jackson standing like a stone wall." From that moment on, he was known as "Stonewall" Jackson, a name that he repeatedly lived up to, under the command of General Robert E. Lee. A religious man Jackson believed intensely in the southern cause, with the ability to inspire courage in his men. (LP) (unframed)

A Regency commemorative coverlet, centred a printed rectangular portrait of Princess Charlottle, titled Her Royal Highnefs Princess Charlotte of Wales And of Saxe Coburg Saalfeld, Born 7th Jan 1796 Died 6th Nov 1817, within four printed borders. 97 x 80.5in (247 x 204cm). Princess Charlotte was the only child of George IV, who married Leopold of Saxe Coburg Saalfeld on 2nd May 1816 and died the day after giving birth to a stillborn son. Her death was mourned nationally.
A late Victorian walnut, amboyna and parcel gilt music stool by Gillow & Co., the upholstered hinged seat to a divided interior, the front inset a convex enamel plaque painted a portrait of a boy, above a drawer stamped `GILLOW & CO., 2701`, flanked by fluted columns on lobed bun feet and sunken brass castors, 20.5in (52.1cm) h, 24in (60.8cm) w, 17in (43cm) d.
