Helen Wills Moody (1905-1998) SELF PORTRAIT ON THE TENNIS COURT Signed, original pencil & watercolour drawing, 37.5 by 34.5cm., 15 by 13 1/2in. The image has been completed on what appears to be a piece of watercolour board which has a further landscape drawing by her on the reverse. Interestingly, there is also a hand written note which reads, “Reserved for Mr. Macauley”. This may well be Lt. Col. A.D.C. 'Duncan' Macaulay (O.B.E.) an author and journalist who was once Secretary/Chief Executive to the All England Club, Wimbledon. Accompanied by a press photograph showing Helen Wills Moody at the Bernheim Art Galleries in Paris, at an exhibition of her work in 1932.

* ALASDAIR GRAY, PORTRAIT OF A FRIEND mixed media on paper 39cm x 36cm Mounted, framed and under glass Alasdair Gray (born 28 December 1934) is a Scottish writer and artist. His most acclaimed work is his first novel, ``Lanark``, published in 1981 and written over a period of almost 30 years. It is now regarded as a classic, and was described by The Guardian as ``one of the landmarks of 20th century fiction.`` His novel ``Poor things``(1992) won the Whitbread Novel Award and the Guardian Fiction Prize. Gray illustrates his own books and has painted murals in notable Glasgow West End locations including the Ubiquitous chip, Oran Mor and Hillhead Underground Station. The artist has many works in public and private collections and a major exhibition of the artist`s work will be held soon at Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery.
