School of Sir Godfrey Kneller (1646-1723)/Portrait of a Gentleman/half length wearing a white stock and brown coat/oil on canvas, 76cm x 63cm/see illustration Condition Report: Some areas of paint loss to top and right of canvas. Relined. Canvas inscribed verso 'Gressom fecit 1714 / John Whitaker (?) / age 21. Unframed.
18th Century British School/Portrait of Thomas Everard of Randalstown, County Antrim/half length, wearing a red coat/oil on canvas, 77cm x 63cm Condition Report: Very dirty. Considerable paint loss to upper margins. Holes to canvas at nose, above head, on left shoulder. Not relined. This was a fine portrait but now requires major restoration.
A Victorian porcelain plaque, painted a portrait of a lady, signed J Lowe and dated 1843, 17cm x 15cm Condition Report: Plaque 21.5cm x 20cm total measurements including frame, 28cm x 26.5cm, condition of the plaque appears good although has not been examined out of frame, the gilt frame is a bit tiered with some losses to gilt areas.
Early 19th Century English School/Portrait Miniature of Lt. General Sir Richard Hussey Vivian GCB, GCH, PC, in Uniform/Companion Portrait of his Wife in feathered hat/a pair/watercolour on ivory in gilt frames, 11.5cm x 9cm/Note: Lt. General Vivian as a Major served under General Sir David Baird at Corunna in 1808. As a Colonel he commanded the 13th and 14th Light Dragoons and was aide-de-camp to the Prince Regent. He served at the battle of the Nive and at Croix d'Orde on the Ers River where he was badly wounded. In 1815 he commanded the 6th Brigade at Waterloo after the repulse of Napoleon's Imperial Guard. Vivian's Hussars led the final charge of the day, sweeping all before them. His service was awarded with thanks from both Houses of Parliment, the KCH and the orders of Maria Theresa and St. Vladimir/Provenance: Plas Gwyn, Anglesey/see illustration

(illustrated) CONDITION REPORT: Lot 561: part of jewelled decoration with gilt missing, overall good condition.

Louis William Wain: drawing watercolour in orange/red tones; Portrait of a Smiling Cat (contained in an early 20th century autograph book), signed 'Louis Wain'. PROVENANCE; the sketch is contained in an autograph book belonging to the vendors grandfather who was chief clerk and steward at Springfield Mental Hospital where Wain was a patient in the 1920's. The book comes with a letter from the vendor's mother describing how her father had met Wain at the hospital and some anecdotal notes about Wain's life there.
