A miniature Gladstone burgundy coloured leather case by Asprey, containing; an openfaced pocket watch, a miniature shoe, a transferware snuff box, detailed Edinburgh Castle, a French medallion with a case, two life saving fob medals, with boxes, a button hook, a cigarette holder, a pair of West Riding of Yorkshire regiment officers collar badges, eight similar buttons, a colourless paste set buckle, a portrait miniature of a lady, with a rectangular leather case, also a few antiquity and tribal items, comprising; two small ceramic bowls, a small glass bottle, an arrowhead, a pendant formed as a deer and an Indian small metal ladle and further items.
A rectangular red and gilt tooled leather fitted case, initialed to the front M.M.L. for Melleiro Dits Meller, containing a gold and cornelian set brooch of panel shaped form, decorated with scrolled motifs to the border, initial engraved to the back, together with a circular red leather and gilt tooled case, containing a bronze medallion by Dieudonne 1825, the obverse detailed with the portrait of J Macdonald, Duc de Tarente looking left in full dress uniform, the reverse with a wreathed inscription. NB Mellerio confirms that the fitted case dates between 1830 and 1848 (based on the case details). Illustrated 105.32

A three row necklace of garnet beads, a ten row necklace of freshwater cultured pearls on a gold rectangular clasp, detailed 750, three further necklaces, a rosary, a steel and gilt metal bracelet, a bracelet decorated with Siamese dancing girls, a bangle, a mother of pearl pendant cross and further items of silver and other jewellery, including; earrings, two rings and a brooch depicting the portrait of a gentleman, with a jewellery case. Mid-18th century English School, a portrait miniature on ivory of Colonel Shugborough Whitney with wig, wearing a red coat, grey waistcoat, agate reverse, with inscription around the reverse of frame "Coll Shug Whitney- a man of undaunted courage & undaunted integrity, Died for his country at the battle of Falkirk 1746", the image 4.3cm high. Illustrated Footnote: In Dodderidge's biography of Colonel James Gardiner he states that Whitney is recorded as taking part in the Battle of Falkirk Muir on 17 January 1746, having succeeded to Gardiner's command of the 13th Dragoons. His commanding officer General Henry 'Hangman' Hawley made the mistake of launching an unsupported cavalry attack upon the Highlanders; "a blunder which lost the English the battle and Whitney his life".

Footnote: George Whitney was born 1734/35, admitted to the Inner Temple in 1755 and died in 1806. His uncle was Colonel Shugborough Whitney.

Mid 18th century, English School, portrait miniature on ivory of the Reverend Henry Leslie DD (1719-1803), red curtain in the background, numbered 11 on the reverse, the image 6.8cm high. Illustrated Footnote: Reverend Henry Leslie of Ballibay, co. Monaghan was the son of Reverend Peter Leslie and Jane Dopping. He married Catherine Meredyth (daughter of Charles Meredyth, Dean of Ardfert), in 1753. They lived at Ballibay, County Monaghan, and had three children; Peter Henry Leslie (b 1755)- died in the American wars Catherine Letitia Leslie (d 1814) Charles Albert Leslie.

Illustrated Footnote: Ellen Magenis married Charles Albert Leslie, son of Henry Leslie (lot 2434), in July 1799. They had six children including; Henry Charles Leslie D. Dec 1832 (Lot 2442) Charles Richard Leslie Elizabeth Catherine Leslie Catherine Leslie Catherine Letitia Leslie (Lot 2438) Emily Eleanor Wilhelmina Leslie.

Pierre Edouard Dagoty (b. 1755) French portrait miniature on ivory of Arthur French (c. 1802- 1843), with brown hair, wearing a blue coat, a buff coloured waistcoat and a black stock, signed and dated 1821, numbered 10 on the reverse with inscription, the image 6.7cm high. Illustrated Footnote: Arthur French of Clonsilla, son of Robert Henry French and Charlotte Reynell married Emily Eleanor Wilhelmina Leslie - the daughter of Charles Albert Leslie and Ellen Magennis (lot 2435). She died on 26 August 1884. Their elder son Robert Charles Leslie (Lot 2446), of Ballibay, D.L., inherited Ballibay and assumed by Royal Licence, 1885, the name and arms of Leslie. He married Charlotte Philippa Mary Kelso (Lot 2447), daughter of Capt. Edward Kelso. of Kelsoland and Horkesley One son Theodore Barrington Norman Leslie (Lot 2448) an officer from a Rifle Brigade who died in South African War 1899.
