A late 17th / early 18th century ivory profile portrait relief attributed to Jean Cavalier, the tondo plaque carved with a side profile bust of an unknown noble man facing sinister, wearing a cravat, over-coat and wig, incised verso 'J.Cavalieir.F.A.1690', remains of a collection label verso, 8.4cm diameter CONDITION REPORT: The ivory has a hole drilled to the top but this is not a recent addition. A little grubby and evenly yellowed throughout. The back with some scratches and traces of an old collection label. Light age wear rubbing to the detailing of the ivory with a few minor scratches. Edge with some minor grazes.
