Stalingrad interest - A group of four German Second World War bestowal certificates awarded to Dr Hubert Wirtz together with his personal album of photographs, the certificates comprising: 1. GUNTHER VON KLUGE (1882-1944) - Partly-printed D.S., 1p. 8vo. 3rd July 1940. A Clasp to the Iron Cross 2nd Class bestowal certificate, awarded to Dr Hubert Wirtz of Kr. Trsp. Abt. 582 (Ambulance Detachment 582). Signed at the conclusion in pencil by Commander of the 4th Army, Gunther von Kluge. Kluge was later promoted to Field Marshall and implicated in the assassination plot against Hitler, ultimately committing suicide by cyanide in 1944. Sold together with a small printed portrait photograph. 2. BAUMEISTER, Wilhelm (1887-1963) - Partly-printed D.S., 1p 8vo Ostmedaille (Winter Medal 1941/42) and Wound Black (black), both signed in blue ink by Generalarzt u. Armeearzt Baumeister during his tenure as Army-Medic with the 6th Army. 3. HOLLIDT, KARL-ADOLF: (1891-1985) - Partly-printed D.S., 1p. 8vo, 20th April 1943. A War Merit Class 2nd Class with Swords bestowal certificate signed in ink by Hollidt during his tenure as Commander of the 6th Army. Sold together with a black and white printed photograph of Hollidt with facsimile signature. 4. A War Merit Cross 1st Class with swords certificate with a facsimile signature of Maximilian Fretter-Pico, a black and white printed photograph of Piro and a listing of Baumeister's service history. Sold together with a black wound badge and Dr Hubert Wirtz's personal photograph album, comprising approximately fifty-five black and white photographs and postcards showing army soldiers, army doctors, party rallies, railway transportation including a train derailment, military banquets, portraits and other related snapshots Notes: Dr. Hubert Wirtz (b. 20th May 1907) appears listed in the SS leader personnel files in the Berlin Document Archives.

Archbishops of Canterbury, Wulfred (805-32), Penny, Gp III, Sæbeorht, +vvlfred v rchiepi, front-facing tonsured bust interrupting legend, three pellets either side, rev. + saeberht moneta around Dorobernia Civitas monogram, 1.34g/9h (Naismith 46.2k, this coin [recté three pellets to left]; BLS 6; SCBI BM 760-1; N 240/1; S 889). Small crack by edge at 8 o’clock, otherwise about extremely fine, lightly toned with an attractive portrait [slabbed NGC MS 62] £3,000-£3,600 --- Provenance: SNC November 1993 (7819)

Good very fine, most discs still attached, rare £300-£400
