She married George Hooper c.1795.
English School (16th Century) - Oil painting - Shoulder length portrait of Thomas Culpepper wearing a tall hat and ruff, oak panel 24ins x 18ins, in ebonised frame Note : This is possibly the only known image of Culpepper and is believed to have been purchased from Hollingbourne House, Hollingbourne, Kent in 1966
Thomas Phillips (1770-1845) - Oil painting - Shoulder length portrait of Sir Nicholas Conyngham Tindal (1776-1846) canvas 30ins x 25ins (relined), in gilt moulded frame, circa 1815 Provenance : The sitter's family by decent until 1996. Note : Tindal, an eminent lawyer, served with Brougham on the defence of Queen Caroline at her trial in the Lords, 1820. A late portrait of 1840 is in the National Portrait Gallery (NPG482)
Mid 18th Century English School - Oil painting - Full length portrait of Rear Admiral Donald Campbell (1752-1819) as a young child wearing a full length dress and red shoes, and standing by a seated figure of a young woman (thought to be his mother) playing a harpsichord, canvas 50ins x 40ins, apparently unsigned, in gilt moulded frame with moulded leaf ornament to the inner rail (paint surface a little bitumenised and surface cracked overall) Provenance : By family descent - until recently displayed at Finchcocks Musical Museum, Goudhurst, Kent Note : Rear Admiral Donald Campbell became a Commander on 5th June 1793 and promoted to Captain on 26th October 1795, and to Rear Admiral of the Blue on 4th June 1814 and Rear Admiral of the White on 12th August 1819. He was in command of H.M.S Dictator (Third Rate - 64 Guns) at the bombardment of Copenhagen on 2nd September 1807 and the Baltic Expedition of 1808. On 14th August 1809 H.M.S. Audacious (3rd Rate - 74 Guns) of which he was then in command took part of the bombardment of Flushing. He died on 11th November 1819 aged 67 years when he was Commander in Chief of H.M.S. Ships on the Leeward Island Station. He died at sea aboard his flag ship H.M.S. Salisbury. His memorial is in the Portsmouth Garrison Church. With black and white photograph of the memorial.
*** Robert Studley Forrest Hughes (1938-2012 - Australian) - Oil painting - Abstract - "King Solomon" - Shoulder length portrait, canvas 28ins x 18ins, titled in black "King Solomon" and dated 9 April-60 to reverse of canvas, and inscribed in pencil "Robert Hughes" and price "25 Gns", in painted angled frame Note : Robert Hughes (1938-2012) was an Australian born art critic, writer and producer of television documentaries. His book and television series "Modern Art - The Shock of the New" earned him widespread recognition. His best seller "The Fatal Shore" (published 1987) was a study of the British Penal Colonies and an early history of Australia. In his early life in Sydney he was an inspiring artist and poet and a friend of the vendor, to whom he gave these two pictures.
