Attributed to Theodore Russel, 1614-1688, Portrait of Essex, Countess of Manchester, oil on panel, 37x30cm.; 14.5x12in. The present portrait derives from a double portrait of Lady Manchester and her sister Lady Dicks by the Studio of Van Dyck (see Larsen, 1988, Vol.II, p.494). The sitter was the daughter of Sir Thomas Cheeke, and elder sister of Lady Rich. In December 1642 she married, as his third wife, the 2nd Earl of Manchester.

Isaac Pocock, 1782-1835, portrait of isaac john innes pocock; portrait of anne pocock, one signed and dated 1818, both oil on canvas, one 59x49cm., 23.25x19.25 in., the other 52x44cm., 20.5x17.25in. (2). Isaac Pocock was the son of the famous marine painter, Nicholas Pocock. He studied under both Romney and Beechey, and exhibited a number of works at the Royal Academy. After inheriting property from his uncle in 1818 he devoted himself to drama, producing a large number of plays and musical farces. In 1812 he married Louisa, daughter of Henry Hime of Liverpool. They had one son and three daughters. Provenance. By family descent.
