He travelled extensively in South America, before journeying to the Far East, including visits to the Philippines, China (including Macao) and Japan. It also serves as one of the earliest accounts of Bermuda prior to it being settled by the Somers Island Company in 1612.Apart from this copy, we can trace only one appearance at auction since 1948 (Christie's, 19 May 2000, lacking four leaves including portrait). A second edition was published in 1691, and extracts of this work were reprinted by De Bry, Purchas and Barlaeus.
