Louisa Dunbar. She was born in 1806, married Alexander Morison in 1836 (he died in 1874) and had no children, she died in 1883. The sitter in this portrait is wearing one of the cuff bracelets included in lot 172.

Pair of 19th Century Sevres porcelain cabinet plates, 'Mont Mor Ensy' and 'La Monhe-Piquet'. Both titled verso with printed and painted marks. (2)(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: The second plate has been badly smashed with old riveted repairs and some losses. The non-damaged plate has several scratched to portrait panel and minor wear to gilding.

*Alex Portner (German, b.1920)'POINT OF NO RETURN'Signed with initials l.r., also signed and dated 1960 verso, oil on canvas91 x 61cmAlex Portner was born in Berlin to Russian-Polish parents, moving to Britain in 1939 and later serving in the British Army. While perhaps better known as a portrait painter, his style changed through his career. The present lot was a result of psychological experimentation with drugs, inspired by Aldous Huxley's use of mescaline.
