Imre Goth (Hungarian, 1893-1982): a sepia wash study of a nude, unsigned, 27 by 21cm, framed and glazed 50 by 44cm.Note: Imre Goth was a Jewish painter who was well known in Germany during the period of the Nazi's rise to power. Goering commissioned him to paint his portrait, but when Goering, feeling that the finished painting showed his addiction to morphine requested that his eyes be changed, Goth refused saying that he could only paint what he saw. This decision meant Goth was forced to flee for his life to the Isle of Man.
