A SEED PEARL AND ENAMEL MEMORIAL BROOCH c.1870-80 Set to the centre with an oval portrait miniature of a Gentleman, set within a surround of thirty six seed pearl highlights (one lacking), in turn within an elaborate surround of ten applied metalwork swirl designs, each swirl set throughout with nine graduating seed pearl highlights, all set on black enamelling on a brooch pin fitting. Diameter approximately 3.9cm. Weight approximately 15.9gms.

Northern Italian School, 17th century- Portrait of a gentleman in armour, full-length kneeling in prayer; oil on canvas, 84.5x57.5cm, (unframed) (VAT charged on hammer price) CONDITION REPORT: irregular weave to canvas cut down and or possibly a fragment of a much larger work, particularly evident on top and right hand edges canvas has been re-lined, 21st century stretcher has been replaced, 21st century examined under uv lamp, there is evidence of some areas of overpainting, predominantly along the top and right edge of the canvas and on his shoulder subject to infilling across top edge, particularly in top left corner pigment separation evident in the hand no old varnish visible paint surface appears to have been cleaned and revarnished overall a stabilising product has possibly been applied as there is no evidence of flaking and canvas surface is uneven

STEVE MCCURRY (AMERICAN b. 1950), AFGHAN GIRL (THE GIRL WITH THE GREEN EYES) offset lithographic colour print, signed lower right in pen 54cm x 38cm Mounted, framed and under glass Note:Steve McCurry took his most recognized portrait, "Afghan Girl", in a refugee camp near Peshawar, Pakistan in 1984. The image itself was named as "the most recognized photograph" in the history of the National Geographic magazine and her face became famous as the cover photograph on the June 1985 issue. The photo has also been widely used on Amnesty International brochures, posters, and calendars. The identity of the "Afghan Girl" remained unknown for over 17 years until McCurry and a National Geographic team located the woman, Sharbat Gula, in 2002. McCurry said, "Her skin is weathered; there are wrinkles now, but she is as striking as she was all those years ago."
* HARRY HOLLAND (b 1941), STROKE monotype on paper, signed 13cm x 15cm Mounted, framed and under glass Note: Martin Tinney Gallery of Cardiff exhibition label verso. Holland was born in Glasgow in 1941. He trained at St. Martin's School of Art from 1965-69. Since the seventies this extraordinary classical artist has had over thirty solo exhibitions and figured in countless group exhibitions worldwide. Not surprisingly, his work has developed a substantial international following amongst collectors and has found its way into numerous important public collections world-wide including the Tate Gallery, British Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art New York, National Museum of Wales, National Portrait Gallery Canada, Welsh Arts Council, European Parliament Collection, Belgian National Collection and the Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge.

Notes Jack Piercy (1899-1986) was appointed Surgeon-Superintendent at New End Hospital, Hampstead in 1932. He became eminent for his research and pioneering treatment into diseases of the thyroid, establishing New End as a world-renowned centre for endocrinology, especially after the opening of the Endocrinology Department in 1955. He was awarded the CBE on his retirement from New End in 1966.
