The artwork is painted by Edward Halliday (1902-1984), a British artist best known for his portraits and murals in the 1920s. Halliday's work is in many public museum collections including National Portrait Gallery, London, National Maritime Museum, Bank of England Museum, and the Parliamentary Art Collection. The painting features a beautiful landscape scene of a loch, with a mirror like surface reflecting the sky, with a tree and rocks in the foreground, mountains and hills in the background. The poster is titled "The Western Highlands - See Scotland by Rail". Published by the Railway Executive (Scottish Region) and printed in the Great Britain by Waterlow and Sons, London and Dunstable.
