Heubach) portrait plate of Princess Alexandra Amelie of Bavaria (1826-75) after Joseph Karl Stieler , late 19th century, within an elaborate blue and gilt border, 24.5cm diameter, green printed factory mark, titled in iron-red Alexandra bgl. Princessin n. Bayern Note: Alexandra was a Wittelsbach and the fifth daughter of King Ludwig I of Bavaria, she never married and devoted her life to literature. The portrait was part of the 'Gallery of Beauties' commissioned by Ludwig for Schloss Nyphenburg.
