Lot 1278

A selection of silver items to include, silver backed hand mirror, hair brush, silver sauce boat, marked for Chester 1936 and a white metal table cigarette box. All items have scratches with marks and general bumps with patches of tarnishing. The mirror is hallmarked Birmingham 1919, the brush also hallmarked Early twentieth century Birmingham. To the white metal box there is visible solder and joins, length of the box measuring 5ins (13cm). Also together with a silver mount from a comb which is very poor condition with splits dents and overall tarnished, hallmarked Birmingham 1910.

Lot 1279

A selection of assorted silver items to include mustard pot, salt, pepperette, inkwell, vesta case, agate brooch and mother of pearl handled fruit knife. The overall condition of the pieces in this lot is reasonable. There is a great deal of tarnish to all the items, and they all have surface scratches caused by general wear and tear. The pepperette, salt, and mustard pot are all in good condition, with little damage. The ink well is also in good condition but is dirty and has a lot of polish build-ups. The marcasite ring is slightly bent, one of the brooches is missing a stone, and the clasp on the bracelet is broken. One of the brooches has some enamel missing and the pin is bent. All the other pieces have no serious damage.

Lot 1282

Edward VIII three piece cased condiment set, comprising pepper of waisted form, lidded mustard and open salt of circular domed form with gadrooned detail and blue glass liners. Total silver weight 6.86ozt (213.5gms). Hallmarked Elkington & Co Birmingham 1934 and 1936, numbered 36726. The pepper, open salt, and lidded mustard are all in good condition. They all have surface scratches, areas of tarnish, and tiny notches, but no serious damage. All three have build-ups of polish, particularly around the bases, the hinge of the mustard, and the lid of the pepper. Some of the holes in the pepper's lid have been blocked up with polish. Both the glass liners are also in good condition, with only tiny scratches, imperfections, and little chips to the rims. One of the spoons is plated, and the other spoon is the only piece to be hallmarked with an earlier date (1934 rather than 1936). Both have some small scratches and notches, and the plated one is discoloured, but they are in good condition nonetheless. The box has scratches, cracks and scuffs to the exterior, and stains on the fabric inside. The catch does not work very well, as it is loose.

Lot 1286

A 1930's hinged table cigarette box with engine turned decoration to the lid and wooden interior. Width measures 5 1/4ins (13.5cm). Hallmarked Mappin & Webb London 1937. There are some surface scratches to the body of the box, but these are not serious. The hinges work well although the lid fits a little tightly, and is therefore a bit stiff. There are some marks and blemishes to the silver, and there are some pieces of sellotape stuck on to the sides. The box has a few small dents around the sides. There are some build-ups of polish around the inside of the lid, and also on the handle. The wooden interior is in reasonable condition, with some marks from polish, and a couple of very tiny chips.

Lot 1290

* A 1930's silver cream jug and bowl each piece with a stepped circular base and repeated stepped pattern to the shoulders with angular handles, total weight 10.2ozt (318gms) dated Birmingham 1937. The jug and bowl are both in good condition some light general wear and tear scratches can be seen but no serious damage, both hallmarks are slightly rubbed.

Lot 1292

Georg Jensen-a circular dish with hammered finish. Import mark for London 1964. Also marked 'Denmark Sterling' and '620B'. 6.5ins (16.5cms) diameter. Weight 6.8ozt (211gms). Small dent to rim. The dish is in reasonably good condition. The silver is quite tarnished, and there are a lot of surface scratches of varying degrees of seriousness. There is a dent and a number of notches in the rim. There is a sticky label on the underside of the dish which needs cleaning off. The hallmark and maker's mark are clear and unrubbed.

Lot 1294

A pair of twentieth century wine goblets of plain conical form and shaped stems raised on circular footed bases. Height measures 5 1/4ins (13.5cm), weight 14.71ozt (457.6gms). Hallmarked Barker Ellis Silver Co Birmingham 1973. Together with pair of brandy snifters of plain bulbous form with gilt interior. Height measures 3 1/4ins (8.5cm), weight 6.29ozt (195.5gms). Hallmarked Birmingham 1973, sponsors mark reads PHV & Co. The two wine goblets have general scratches and marks with patches of discolouration and tarnishing to the whole. Each goblet is also marked Made in England to the base. The two brandy snifters have general scratches and marks with some patches of tarnishing. There are a few shallow dents to the body, more to one than the other. The gilding to the interior is still bright but has begun to wear in places.

A selection of twentieth century items to include a cream jug of baluster form and leaf capped handle, height measures 4 1/2ins (12cm, weight 6.48ozt (201.6gms), hallmarked Barker Ellis Silver Co Birmingham 1974. A sugar sifter of facetted baluster form with decoratively pierced lid, height measures 6 3/4ins (17cm), weight 4.94ozt (153.6gms), hallmarked Birmingham 1973. A pepper mill of plain from, height measures 3 3/4ins (10cm), hallmarked Birmingham 1977. A cheese scoop with Kings pattern handle, length measures 7 1/2ins (19cm), weight 1.95ozt (60.6gms), hallmarked Mappin & Webb Sheffield 1977. A tea strainer and bowl with decorative acanthus leaf and floral scroll moulded handle, length measures 6 1/4ins (15.5cm), weight 80.4gms (2.58ozt), hallmarked Birmingham 1975. A pair of filled table candlesticks with shaped conical stems and circular stepped base, height measures 4 3/4ins (12cm), hallmarked Birmingham 1974. Overall in nice condition, each item does have general scratches marks and patches of tarnishing, in places some deeper scratches and small dints/dents-to one candlestick there is a small dent to the head, and remnants of old candles to both, to the rim of the pepper there is also a shallow dent, there are a few small nicks to the rim of the cheese scoop and a more noticeable dent to the head of the sifter.

A twentieth century cased six piece condiment comprising two open salts, two peppers and two lidded mustards, each piece of cylindrical form and reeded border, blue glass liners, shell thumb piece and scrolling handles to the lidded mustards together with four associated condiment spoons. Total silver weight 17.99ozt (559.6gms). Hallmarked London 1974, 1970 and 1973, sponsors mark reads EB ss. Overall an attractive set in nice condition. Each piece has general scratches and marks from use, some patches of tarnishing and remnants of old polish. There are some very small chips to the blue glass liners only noticeable on close inspection. None of the spoons are original hallmarked Birmingham 1973 sponsors mark reads W.A. The case also shows general wear from use.

Lot 1298

* Parcel lot to include two silver Armada dishes, two silver napkin rings, four Stuart crystal goblets (all to commemorate the Queen's Golden Jubilee), also a ladies Gucci watch, gentleman's Seiko watch and a yellow metal dress button and stud set. Most of the pieces in this lot are in immaculate condition. The goblets, dishes, and napkin rings are all very new and have obviously never been used. They are all well packaged in their original boxes. The boxes are also in good condition, with only very small scrapes. The crystal boxes do have sellotape stuck on them however. oth the watches are in working order, although we cannot guarantee that they still will be by the time of sale. The gentleman's Tissot has a lot of scratches to the head and strap, and some tiny ones to the glass. There are a few small marks to the face, and a build-up of dirt to the back of the bezel. The strap is very badly stretched. There are scuffs and a lot of dirt to the clasp. The crown is missing. The back of the head is marked 'Water Resistant 100m, Stainless Steel, Sapphire Crystal, T P460-G'. he lady's Gucci has a lot of scratches to the head and strap. The clasp is a little loose. The bracelet is stretched. There are some very small

Lot 1301

A silver plated hairbrush with applied foliate scroll and festoon decoration, stamped Tiffany & Co Paris. Length measures 9ins (23cm). There are a quantity of surface scratches to the body of the hairbrush, caused by general wear and tear. The plating has rubbed away in places, leaving the brush with a discoloured appearance. Despite this, it is still a very attractive object. There are dints to the brush, especially on the handle. The wood that the bristles are attached to is loose. The bristles are showing signs of wear. The side of the brush is marked 'Tiffany & Co. Paris'.

Lot 1302

A large silver plated trophy cup with circular stepped base with twin handles and knopped lid. Overall general scratches and marks with spots of tarnishing, overall the plating has worn and become discoloured.

Lot 1303

A plated oval flask the glass body with silver plated cover with the initials SB together with a sterling silver powder compact with engine turned decoration to the front and engraved initials J.D. There is noticeable wear to the flask, scratches marks, trapped dirt and spots of tarnishing, to the upper half of the piece there is considerable wear to the silver plate. Noticeable discolouration to the inside of the silver plated mount is also visible through the glass inside. The compact is marked Berks Sterling it also carries scratches marks, general bumps and dints with patches of tarnishing. The hinge and clasp are in good working order.

Lot 1304

A silver plated tea service comprising tea pot (a/f), hot water jug, milk jug and twin handled lidded sugar bowl, each of bulbous form raised on four ornate feet with scroll detail and shaped final together with a silver plated tray with acanthus style scroll engraving, moulded raised rim raised on four turned feet. The tea service is in poor condition at the moment. All the items have some combination of surface scratches and small dents, and all are badly discoloured, the tray in particular, which is also very dirty. The teapot in is particularly bad condition. It is missing one of its feet, and the hinge of the lid is bent, meaning that the lid will not close properly at all. The engraved decoration on all the items, and particularly that on the tray is all in good condition. The service would benefit from cleaning, and the teapot from some repair work.

Lot 1306

A pair of silver plated candlesticks of tiered appearance with square borders embossed with floral scrolls each raised on a fluted frilled square footed base and detachable sconces. Each measures 11ins (27.5cm) high, marked to the base Viners Ltd. The candlesticks have both got a number of small surface scratches from general wear and tear. One of them has a couple of scuffs and a more serious scratch on the stem. Both have large amounts of polish built up, especially around the embossed pattern and inside the neck. The plating has worn off on the patterns, letting the copper show through. The sconces are both quite loose. Both of the bases are marked 'Reproduction of Old Sheffield Plate, Viners Ltd. made in Sheffield England, E.P. on Copper'.

Lot 1307

Silver plated candelabra with two intertwining branches raised on a facetted shaped stem forming octagonal base with fluted corners. Converted for electrical use. Height measures approximately 12ins (31cm), marked to the base Elkington plate. The candelabra is for use with electricity. It has a socket on the base and a lightbulb fitting in each sconce. It is not clear whether this an original feature or a later conversion. The plate has worn off in a few places, but is general intact. There are some general surface scratches to the whole. There is a lot of polish present, especially around the decoration and inside the sconces. Along with the Elkington Plate mark, the candelabra is marked with an 'X', and the words 'A.T. Wiley Co. Limited Montreal'.

Lot 1308

A large selection of plated ware to include a pierced gallery tray, a glass decanter with silver plated mount, a swing handle basket, a cream jug, three tankards and a number of dishes. All items are in varying condition. Due to the large number of items in the lot we are unable to provide a detailed condition report.

Lot 1315

Russian nineteenth century silver gilt spoon with cloisonne enamel in a floral scroll motif and tapered shaped stem. Length measures 6 1/4ins (16cm). Probably Moscow circa 1880, other mark indefinite. The spoon is in good condition with some general light surface scratches and marks. To the detailed areas there is some tarnishing and in places a little wear to the gilding. To the back of the bowl some of the outlines to the cloisonne enamel are a little distorted, this is noticeable on close inspection. Overall the enamel is in good condition with minor chips, marks and spots of discolouration only noticeable on close inspection. Fitted in an associated wooden box.

Lot 1316

A Continental silver circular lidded pot with blossom tree decoration in relief, the whole body with hammered effect decoration, makers marks to the base, weight 6.33ozt, (196.9gms). The pot is in very good condition. There are some surface scratches, small notches, and little areas of tarnish, but these are difficult to see because of the hammered effect. The base of the pot is very dented, but the hallmark is easily legible. There are some deep scratches and scrapes to the rim of the bowl and lid. The inside of the lid is very dented where the pattern has shown through from the exterior, and there are some small dents to the inside of the bowl.

Lot 1324

Russian silver chamberstick with facetted and frilled base leading to stepped shaped sconce and scroll pierced handle. Height measures 2ins (5cm), diameter 2 1/2ins (6.5cm). Hallmarked St Petersburg 1890, also marked K.A. There are some surface scratches to the chamberstick, along with some areas of tarnish. The sconce fits well into the top of the stem. The sconce is not hallmarked. The hallmark on the main body of the chamberstick is clear and unrubbed. Overall it is in very good condition.

Lot 1330

A Victorian knife and fork carving set, the silver blades with foliate engraving and filled silver handles decorated with intertwining leaf and berry detail, dated Birmingham 1872. The knife and fork are in good condition. They have some surface scratches and slight tarnish, but no serious damage. The decoration is all clear and unrubbed. The fork has pulled away from its handle slightly, but it is not loose. The hallmarks are easily legible. The box is in reasonable condition, although the fastening is loose. There are some scrapes to the exterior, and fading and marks to the interior.

Lot 1335

A pair of bright cut Georgian sugar tongs with bright cut decoration and hallmarked with date letter only, no town mark, together with a silver sugar shovel of plain form dated Birmingham 1929. The sugar tongs have some wear but are in generally good condition some wear to the bright cut decoration in places as states in the description the tongs have no town mark, the sugar shovel is in good condition and hallmarks are clear and visible.

Lot 1337

A quantity of Late Victorian and Edwardian Old English and bead pattern cutlery to include three table forks, and four teaspoons. Total weight 11ozt (347gms). Hallmarked Sheffield 1905 London 1886, 1895, 1899. The cutlery is all in good condition. There are minor scratches, small marks, and little scuffs to the surface of the silver, but no more serious damage. All the hallmarks are legible.

Lot 1338

A late nineteenth century Dutch Apostle spoon-Chester import mark for 1903, and an Edwardian silver and enamel souvenir spoon-the bowl depicting Westminster Abbey-Birmingham 1902. The Apostle spoon is in very nice condition. There are some shallow scratches to the surface of the silver, and a slight bloom of tarnish in places. The detail of the decoration on the handle is clear and undamaged. The hallmarks are slightly rubbed in places but still legible. he souvenir spoon is not in quite such good condition. It is very tarnished, and the handle is a bit bent. There are scratches, pits and notches to the whole of the spoon, but especially to the underside of the bowl. The decroative details are all clear and unrubbed. The enamel has a tiny chip missing on the middle of the left-hand side. The hallmark is clear, as is the number 'REGD. 0385346' which is also stamped on the handle.

Lot 1349

Georgian silver basting spoon the handle with engraved initial engraving, dated London 1790, length 12inches (30.5cms) weight 3.1ozt (97.8gms), makers mark W.S. The spoon has general surface scratches and marks, the bowl is a little flattened/dented to one area from use and carries general pitting marks. The hallmarks are distinct.

Lot 1350

A Georgian silver ladle the handle engraved with initials, length 12.5inches (32mm) dated London 1771, weight 131.4gms (4.22ozt). The ladle has general surface scratches and marks with spots of tarnishing, the bowl is noticeably worn with several shallow dents and pitting the overall shape is no longer circular, with thinning and marks to the edge.

Lot 1351

A pair of Georgian small silver ladles each with engraved initials to the handles, dated London 1790 length 7ins (17.5cms), total weight 2.8ozt (89gms). Each has general surface scratches and marks and a few spots of tarnishing, the bowls have several dents and bumps, one is noticeably distorted and is no longer circular, also with more thinning to the edge of the bowl. The hallmarks are clear and distinct.

Lot 1352

A selection of assorted spoons of mostly Georgian examples to include teaspoons and dinner spoons, and some plated ware to include mustard spoons and a fish slice. All the items in this lot are in reasonable to good condition. There are areas of slight tarnish, and some small surface scratches, but no serious damage. Some of the items have some small dints and notches to the surface of the silver, and some of the spoons have dents to the bowls. Many of the spoons are engraved with initials to the end of the handles. Most of the hallmarks appear to be clear and legible. Due to the large number of items in this lot we are unable to provide a more detailed condition report.

Lot 1357

A selection of assorted silver and silver plated boxed flatware to include silver spoon and pusher, silver tea spoons and a selection of odd spoons. This lot consists of: boxed plated set of spoon and pusher, boxed silver set of spoon and pusher, boxed set of six silver teaspoons, boxed pair of plated serving spoons with foliate decoration and embossed fruit, boxed set of silver fish servers, boxed set of plated knives, forks, and fish servers, boxed set of plated knives and forks, nd a selection of plated knives, forks, cake forks, teaspoons, condiment spoons, sugar nips etc, and a silver napkin ring. ll the items are in reasonably good condition. The plating on some has worn or discoloured, and all the items display slight signs of wear such as minor surface scratches. The loose flatware is generally not in such good condition as the boxed. All the boxes are intact and in reasonable condition. Most of the items have clearly legible hallmarks or plate marks.

Lot 1369

A graduated silver Albert chain with T bar and suspended fob also a smaller example with T bar. The large albert chain is in good condition. There are scratches and discolouration to the whole, and also to the fob, but no serious damage. Each link is hallmarked. One of the clips does not work very well, but the other is in good working order. The smaller chain is again quite scratched and discoloured, and the clip is very stiff.

Lot 1371

Three miniature silver rose bowl style trophies each with stepped bases and lion mask handles, golf engraving to each, dated Birmingham 1953, 1947, 1949, makers mark to each Adie Brothers. All of the trophies are in similar condition. They all have scratches from general wear and tear, and all are quite tarnished. All have shallow dents to them, but the latest is the least damaged. All three are engraved with the words 'Rosethorn Bowl, K.U.R. Golf Club', and the dates 1947, 1949, and 1953. The stands are all a little worn but in good general condition.

Lot 1372

Four assorted miniature trophies with plinths each with engraving and one with lid the finial depicting a man in a golfing pose. All the tropies are in reasonable condition. The largest has a lid with a golfer on the top. The whole trophy is tarnished, but the lid especially so. The rim of the lid is badly bent, so it does not sit properly on top of the trophy. The trophy is marked '1937, The Barth Cup, A.J. Field'. The stand is in good condition. The hallmark is clear and unrubbed. he second biggest cup is quite badly dented. It is marked 'C.S.C. Snooker Cup Winner 1936'. The stand is scuffed but in reasonably good condition. The hallmark is very rubbed. he two small cups are both a little dented. One of them has broken away from its stand. Both stands are scuffed and scratched, but in reasonable condition. They are engraved 'The Tyson Challenge Cup Won by A.J. Field 1925', and 'K.U.R. Golf Club Rhodes Cup 1945 A.J. Field'. One of them is silver and its hallmark is clear. The other is marked Mappin and Webb plate. All the cups have surface scratches and areas of tarnish.

Lot 1376

Victorian baby teething ring with rattle of a child in Dutch clothing. Maximum length measures 4 1/4ins (11cm). Hallmarked Chester 1890, also stamped W.H.C. There are surface scratches to the rattle, and a number of small dents. There is a large dent in the bottom, by the feet. There is also quite a lot of discolouration to the silver, but the details of the child are still clear and undamaged. The ring itself is quite battered, with a lot of scratches and notches. The hallmark is clearly legible.

Lot 1378

Edwardian silver coin purse the front embossed with clouds and cherubs with swing handle, dated Birmingham 1908. The item is noticeably tarnished to the whole with general surface scratches and marks also with small shallow dints. The hinge and clasp are in good working order, although the clasp is a little stiff and the two half's of the purse are not 100% flush. The material to the inside is in fair/good condition with a little wear and discolouration. Please note this item is small, the maximum width measuring 2 1/4ins (5.5cm).

Lot 1381

Early twentieth century silver cased petrol lighter with spinning wheel flint mechanism inside the case and turning handle to the exterior-rope taper fuse also fixed to the outside of the case. Engraved with the initials 'S.F.C' and '1910'. Only marked with a lion passant and the maker's initials 'A&JZ'-assumed to be A & J Zimmerman of Birmingham. Overall height of the case 5.4cms. Overall with general surface scratches, marks and dints, there are also some patches of tarnishing, unable to determine if the item is in working order or not, or the condition of the mechanism.

Lot 1387

Early nineteenth century shaped hinged box embossed with foliate scrolls and a central figurative scene, gilt interior. Several marks to the base including hallmarks for Chester 1835 also marked with the foreign mark, width at the widest point 3 1/4ins (8cm). Together with a white metal rectangular hinged box embossed with a floral scroll motif and a central scene depicting a female figure with goats to the lid, gilt interior, width 3 1/4ins (8cm). Total combined weight 7.25ozt (225.6gms). (2). Both boxes are in good condition. Both have surface scratches to the whole, and both have shallow dents to the base. They also both have areas of tarnish and discolouration. he white metal box has some patches of solder under the rim of the body and on the top of the lid, either from its manufacture or from possible repair work. It also has a hole in one of the bottom corners. The gilding on the inside is in good condition, but there are build-ups of dirt in the corners. The lid fits tightly and well. On the bottom of the box is a pattern which is badly rubbed. he silver box has a crack in it above the hinge on the back of the lid. The gilding inside is a little worn but still mostly intact. The lid fits well and hinges move easily. The hallmark on the base is very clear, and the one on the lid is rubbed but still legible. he embossed decoration on both boxes is rubbed, and although the pattern can still be seen easily, some of the finer details have been lost.

Lot 1388

A George V silver mounted jewel box the body standing on four stepped feet with a kidney shaped body and applied rectangular panel the interior with purple velvet lining, dated Birmingham 1914. The box is in need of some attention, the silver has general surface scratches and marks with spots of tarnishing. Above each of the legs the silver has split. To one side the tortoise shell lid has come away from the silver mount. The box does wobbles noticeably and does not sit straight.

Lot 1392

Edwardian hinged jewel box with tortoise shell lid inlaid with silver in a wreath motif and wheat ear swag detail and border, raised on four turned feet. Diameter measures 2 1/2ins (6.5cm). Hallmarked William Comyns London 1908. The jewellery box is in good overall condition. There are some slight scratches and tarnish marks on the outside, but no serious damage. The silver is a bit more tarnished and discoloured on the inside of the lid. The tortoiseshell has some small scratches and notches to the outside, and a small build-up of dirt around the silver edging. The inlaid silver decoration is in excellent condition. Inside the lid is very dirty. The velvet inside is in good condition, with barely any wear, and only a few small stains and marks. The underside of the box is marked with polish. Both the hallmark on the lid and that on the main body are legible, but the sponsor's mark on the body is quite badly rubbed. On the bottom of the box is 'A796', and another unrecognised mark.

Lot 1394

A late Victorian silver cased glass scent bottle embossed with a classical scene and attached chain. Length measures approximately 3ins (7.5cm), silver weight 1.75ozt (54.3gms). Hallmarked London 1900, sponsors mark reads W.C. The silver case has some surface scratches and small dints to it, but these are not serious. There are two small cracks in the silver, one on the back at the side of the neck, and the other on the front at the bottom of the decoration. There are a number of areas where polish has built up in the grooves in the embossed scenes, so the case would benefit from being cleaned. The hinges work well, but the lid does not close properly as the catch has become loose. The attached chain is in good repair. The hallmark is clear and legible. The glass bottle is in good condition. There are some imperfections and air bubbles in the glass, and some very slight surface scratches, but nothing serious. Overall the scent bottle and case are in reasonably good condition.

Lot 1398

Georgian silver vinaigrette the rectangular shaped case with engine turned decoration to the front and back with raised foliate border, opening to reveal the pierced grill, dated Birmingham 1824, makers mark indistinct. The exterior of the vinaigrette is very badly tarnished, and there are some small surface scratches and dints. The foliate decoration around the edge of the lid is rubbed and some of the detail has been lost, but the engine turned decoration is all in good condition still. There are a few small holes in the foliate decoration, but they do not go all the way through to the interior. The hinge works well and lid closes properly. The inside of the vinaigrette is slightly tarnished, and has some scratches and scrapes to the surface. The grill is a little dented, but the decoration is all clear and intact. There are hallmarks to the insides of both the lid and the body of the vinaigrette. The hallmark in the lid is badly rubbed, the one in the body less so. Overall the vinaigrette is in reasonably good condition.

Lot 1400

George Unite-Victorian caddy spoon with shell and foliate scroll decoration to the handle. Length measures approximately 3 1/2ins (8.5cm), weight 0.312ozt (9.65gms). Hallmarked George Unite Birmingham 1839. The caddy spoon is overall in nice condition, there are general scratches to the silver, the bowl shows some wear-a few deeper scratches and marks and some very small nicks to the edge. There are a few spots of tarnishing. The hallmarks are clear distinct and legible, only the sponsors mark is partly rubbed.

Lot 1401

Georgian silver caddy spoon the handle with shell decoration to the finial, dated Birmingham 1827, makers mark worn. Overall general surface scratches and marks the caddy has worn thin in particular to the bowl where there is also some small dints and the bowl has become slightly misshapen. The hallmarks are clear, the duty mark has worn slightly and the sponsors mark possibly reads ? T.

Lot 1402

Victorian silver rounded rectangular vesta case the plain body with gilt interior, dated Birmingham 1890, sponsors mark WHW together with two other rectangular vesta cases marled for Chester 1921 and Birmingham 1901, (3). The Victorian vesta case is in overall good condition some light general wear and tear scratches to the body but no serious damage, the hallmarks are still crisp, and hinge is also in good condition, the two other examples are in fair condition they have more scratches and some small dints to both examples, one hinge does not close properly on one case.

Lot 1404

Victorian silver rectangular vesta case with engraved foliate decoration, dated Birmingham 1896 together with a George V silver rectangular cigarette case with gilt interior with engraved initial engraving to the front. The vesta case and cigarette case are both badly tarnished. The vesta is also extremely dirty and discoloured inside but is in otherwise good condition. There is a shallow dent on the top. It has some minor surface scratches, but the engraving is very clear and sharp still, and the hinge works well. The hallmark is rubbed but legible. he cigarette case has a number of scratches and a couple of dents. The hinge is slightly damaged on one end, and a sharp bit is sticking out. The case closes but is slightly loose. There is discolouration to the inside. The elastic has perished and has lost its stretch. The hallmark is clear and unrubbed.

Lot 1409

A silver pin cushion in the form of a pig, hallmarks indistinguishable, length 3,1/4inches, (8cms). The pig is in overall good condition. It is quite tarnished, and there are surface scratches and small dints to the whole. The fabric is threadbare and worn in places. The hallmark is illegible.

Lot 1501

A 1920's nurses medal in the form of an enameled red cross with central armorial, the top brooch fitting in blue enamel and reads 'Miss Storers Nursing Association'. Height measures 2ins (5.5cm). Hallmarked J A Restall Birmingham 1928. The medal is in generally good condition. The enamel is all intact and unchipped, although it is scuffed and scratched in places. The silver is tarnished and dirty looking. The cross medal is slightly loose on the brooch fitting, and the brooch itself does not work because the clasp is bent. The hallmark on the back of the cross is clear, and the sponsor's mark is badly rubbed but still legible. The hallmark on the back of the brooch is badly rubbed.

Four assorted gold and silver gilt Masonic medellions to include Loyal Welsh Lodge examples. All the medals are in good condition, with only surface scratches, small areas of discolouration, and some dirt on the medal. The medal with the pale blue ribbon and square medallion is engraved on the front with 'Loyal Welsh Lodge No.378', and on the back with 'Presented to W. Bro. W. H. Silcox. P. M. by the Brethren of Loyal Welsh Lodge No. 378 JanY. 1935'. All the hallmarks are clear, the decoration is unrubbed, and it is in excellent condition bar a mark on the very top. he medal with pale blue ribbon and circular medallion says 'No. 378', 'Loyal Welsh Lodge 1824' on the front, and is inscribed 'Bro. W. H. Silcox' on the reverse. The ribbon is a little dirty but the medal is in overall excellent condition. The hallmark is clear. he medal on the red ribbon with the crown is in excellent condition. There are several areas of discolouration and small surface scratches, but no serious damage. It says 'Loyal Welsh No. 378' on the front, and 'Presented to M.E.Z. W. H.

Lot 1504

A selection of twelve assorted medals mostly early twentieth century and a Victorian example, total weight 3.328ozt (103.51gms). The medals are all in reasonable condition. They have scratches, notches, and tarnish, but all are intact and in generally good repair. Eleven of them are hallmarked silver, but one of these has a white metal front. The remaining medal is white metal and made from a coin. The hallmarks date from around 1890 to 1937. Five of them are engraved on the backs with inscriptions such as 'Leighterton & District AF League', and 'Winners of Summerfield Charity Cup A.H.'

A First World War Trio awarded to 58550 Gunner H Thomas RFA comprising 1914-15 Star, 1914-18 Medal and Great War Medal 1914-19. Also a framed Discharge Certificate 27th October 1917. The medals that make up this trio are the 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal 1914-20, and the Victory Medal 1914-19. Virtually all service men and women received one or more of them. The Star was awarded to anyone who saw service in a theatre of war between 5th August 1914 and 31st December 1915. The British War Medal was awarded to commemorate the successful end of the war, and was issued to those who had served up to and including this in 1920. The reverse of the medal shows St George on horseback trampling the shield of the central powers. The Victory Medal was issued to commemorate the Allied victory, mostly to those who had served on the establishment of a unit in a theatre of war between 5th August 1914 and 11th November 1918. It shows Victory holding a palm leaf. All three medals are in good condition. The British War Medal is made of silver, and the other two are bronze.
