A good Dutch infantry officer’s sword, slightly curved, fullered, plated blade 35½”, with mark of Carl Eickhorn Solingen at forte under langet, and etched “Yserhouwer” in scroll on one side, gilt hilt with pronounced knucklebow, langets, lion’s head quillon, lion’s head pommel and plain backstrap, wirebound black composition grip, black cord knot with large orange tipped silver bullion “acorn”, in its plated scabbard with single ring. A good sheath for Bowie knife, gilt bordered leather with “I.XL” on one side, silver plated locket and chape, 10¼” overall; a good quality S American trade knife, plated blade 5½” etched with agricultural machinery on one side and “Caterpillar Brasil SA” on the other, silver plated hilt and sheath heavily embossed in traditional style; 2 well made cruciform section spear heads, stamped “Bodraj at Rungabad” 9” and 9½” including sockets; all GC to VGC; another item (AF).
A DB 12 bore percussion sporting gun, by Alexander Thomson (Edinburgh), 46” overall, barrels 30” with traces of maker’s name and address on top rib, the locks finely engraved with scrolls, game birds and maker’s name, walnut halfstock with chequered fore end and wrist and with silver escutcheon engraved with crest, engraved steel mounts, replacement horn tipped wooden ramrod. A good Javanese kris, straight watered blade 13½”, nicely polished facetted hilt, with a little carving on the inner edge, in studded gilt and silver cup, polished grained scabbard, the lower section covered in sheet brass, embossed overall on the front with flowers and foliage. Near VGC Plate 5
A 120 bore percussion boxlock pocket pistol with spring bayonet by Field, Oxford, 7” overall, turn off barrel 2½” with 2¾” spring bayonet beneath released by sliding trigger guard, the frame engraved with scrolls and maker’s name, top thumb safety, walnut slab butt with vacant silver escutcheon. A late 17th century silver mounted hunting hanger, slightly curved, shallow hollow ground blade 19½”, DE for half its length, brass inlaid maker’s mark of 3 stars with tails, ornamental crossguard with turn down ball quillon engraved with flowers, lower band and pommel engraved with strawberries and leaves, pommel cap part HM lion, and HH (?) monogram, 2 piece staghorn grip. QGC (¼” of blade tip and knucklebow missing)
