FLEMING (I), THUNDERBALL, first edition signed by the author on the title page, black cloth with gold lettering, un-clipped d.j., Jonathan Cape, 1961. (Three postage stamps stuck down to the title page of the book). Sold with an Edwardian silver spoon, Elkington & Co Birmingham, 1911, engraved with the emblem for The Royal St George Golf Club, the club where Ian Fleming was a member. (2) By repute: The vendor of the book purchased it from a gentleman whose father worked with Fleming and met up with him at St George's, believed in the early 1960's. It was at this meeting that the book was signed, and the spoon was purchased. CONDITION REPORT: The dust jacket is lightly browned at the edges, spine browned. Jacket with age wear rubbing, some chips and small tears etc to the edge. Some slight creasing. Black cloth with slight lean and with some fading to the top and rubbed and bumped to the top and bottom edges. End papers lightly grubby with some marks / browning. Slightly faded signature to title page - old mark to the title page to the right of the authors name where a stamp was once stuck, and three stamps crudely stuck down. A stamp stuck down to a corner of page 9 and 10 (see images). Brown marks top top outer corners of early pages - heaviest to page 16. Other brown marks throughout. A few corners folded.
