The piece sits on four lion's paw feet with maiden's face mask decoration, and the handle is modeled in the trompe l'oeil manner as a scrolling branch with vines. The hinged lid features further chased decoration including foliage and scrolls, and is surmounted by a cast and applied flower branch finial with a bee resting atop it.
