It was originally chained at the covered Market Cross at the bottom of the Market Place in Ashbourne, Derbyshire and was the subject of an article by W R Holland in the Journal of The Derbyshire Archaeological & Natural History Society, 1898. ++Fine quality and good condition with some old tarnish and water stain to the interior from use possibly as a plant pot
