A Victorian silver plated sweetmeat dish stand with two green glass bowls. Length 29 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The plated stand is in generally good condition with no issues other than minor tarnishing and minor scratching. Both glass dishes are also in generally good order. There are no chips to the top rim or waist. One dish has some surface nibbles around the ribbed bottom edge where the bowl fits into the base. These are not serious but can be felt with a finger end. The second bowl has a 1 cm crack running from the edge of the ground pontil mark. Again this is not problematic and only really visible on close inspection.
An oak canteen containing a quantity of silver plated cutlery, comprising 12 table knives and forks, 12 fish knives and forks, 12 dessert knives and forks, 12 soup spoons, 12 dessert spoons, 8 serving spoons, 7 teaspoons, 12 fruit spoons, four piece carving set. Not original to the canteen, but a further 6 egg spoons, 4 knife rests, mustard spoon, 4 salt spoons, sugar tongs, soup ladle, 2 sauce ladles and basting spoon original. CONDITION REPORT: The cutlery in this canteen is in generally very good order. It has clearly not seen too much use. The plating is generally very good. The table and other knives are later replacements. They are in good condition. The originals will probably have had ivorine handles. The canteen itself is in generally very good order with no significant issues. We have the key.
A pair of London silver wine coasters, with pierced and etched rim, London mark 1971. Diameter 13 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Both coasters are structurally sound. They are not misshapen. The hallmarks are clear. There are minor marks around the foot rims. Both wooden bases have slightly sprung away from the metal binding. There is slight movement here. There are no splits to the bases.
A silver table cigarette box, Birmingham hallmark for 1961, 17 cm x 11 cm x 4 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The box is in generally good condition with no major issues. It is not monogrammed. The top closes crisply and is flush. There are no issues with the hinges. There are no splits. There are some minor surface scratches and numerous small dings. The hallmarks are not rubbed and clearly visible. The interior is a little dirty. Two boxwood dividers are missing. The front left bottom corner is slightly misshapen. The top left corner has a more significant dint and again is slightly misshapen. The top right hand corner of the top panel has a small dint. The overall condition is generally good however. The base is in good condition. Gross weight 560 grams.
A part canteen of Victorian Edinburgh silver flatware, 1848 and 1849, maker J W / JW (unrecorded), and comprising 2 ladles, 6 table forks, 4 tablespoons, 5 dessert spoons, 6 teaspoons. 1352 grams (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: All of the hallmarks are clear and legible with no significant rubbing.
A silver purse, with calf leather interior, late 19th century, Birmingham 1894, 10.5 cm x 7.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The leather interior is in structurally very good order with no loose stitching and no tears. The purple cloth liner to the compartment is also in good order with no issues. There has clearly been very little use. The leather is a little discoloured in places but not significantly. The case itself is in good order. It snaps shut as it should. The sprung loaded unlocking mechanism operates correctly. The hallmarks are clear. There are four very minor dints to the plain outer edge of the case. There are no perforations and no significant scratching.
A Japanese silver cream jug, circa 1895-1910 by Samurai Shokai Yokohama (Yozo Nomura) (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Length 11.5 cm, height 6.5 cm, diameter +/- 6.5 cm. The jug is in generally very good condition with no significant scratches or any repairs. The weight is 102 grams. There are no dents.
A silver serviette ring, 1925 with cabochon, together with a circular silver serviette ring 1913. CONDITION REPORT: The circular ring in is generally very good condition with no significant issues. The hallmark is clear. The serviette ring with the cabochon is misshapen. It is a little buckled. We are not sure whether this would originally have been circular or oval. The hallmarks are legible, the maker being Bernard Instone. There are no tears to the silver and the cabochon is only lightly scratched.
A pair of Sheffield silver modernist candlesticks, 2005 with filled bases, maker Broadway & Co. Height 31 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Both candlesticks are in extremely good condition and have clearly had little use. The hallmarks are clear and not rubbed. There are no dents. There are no scratches. We can see no evidence of any other damage or any repairs.
