However, it's important to note that the hinge mechanism itself is in excellent working order, and the cover closes tightly as intended. Some minor, age-related surface wear is present, which is to be expected, but the item is generally in good condition, both structurally and aesthetically. The hinged cover issue does not significantly detract from the overall quality of the piece.

The glass is in good condition, and the original stopper fits very well. A couple of dints around the skirt of the base but it does not rock. The cover opens well and closes tightly. In generally good condition.
