Red Flamingos Saloman Signed Limited Edition 266/295 - Mounted and Framed 55x62cmEdwin Salomon was born in 1935 in Ocna Mures, a town in the region of Transilvania. In 1948, he moved to Cluj, the capital of Transilvania. He grew up there and after graduating from the local high school; in 1951, he was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts named after Ion Andrescu in Cluj. In the fourth year of his studies, the National Museum of Bucharest bought three of his paintings. Two years later, in 1957, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Sculptors Association as a member, an act that symbolized his adaptation to the Israeli art world. In 1965,Salomon went to Paris, for additional artistic training at the Sorbonne. In the same year he was awarded the Nordau Prize. Later he won more prizes : Tel- Aviv's Bible Museum award for the year 1983 and a honorary Prize awarded by the Holon Municipality in 1985 in the form of 18 trees planted in his name. In 1989, he was accepted as a member of the National Artists Association of France and was awarded the Gillot Dard Prize. In 1990, he won a silver medal at the International exhibition in Turon. He teaches art at a variety of institutions, among them the Art Institute of BatYam, the Tel Aviv Museum and the teachers College in Ramat Hasharon, as well as serving as Art Director for the Wizo-France Vocational high school.Edwin Salomon's paintings appear in numerous private collections in Israel, the USA, Canada, Uruguay, Brazil, Romania, Sweden, Hungary as well as in public collections such as the National Museum of Bucharest, the Cluj Museum, The Hertzelia Museum, the President's residence in Jerusalem and the Great Synagogue of Washington D.C.

A MAHOGANY CASED PART CANTEEN OF PREDOMINANTLY SILVER FLATWARE, to include two small ladles, six 7.5 ins table spoons, six 8.25 ins serving spoons, six 7 ins forks, twelve 8 ins forks, six 7.75 ins soup spoons and three 7 ins forks, all having London hallmarks, dates from 1922 to 1931, two George III period 7 ins forks, London hallmarks, a 1935 butter knife, five Birmingham 1921 teaspoons, a Sheffield 1922 single spoon and six matching maker teaspoons, assayed in six various offices, 1935 dates, 95.8 troy ozs gross along with a mixed quantity of stainless steel bladed knives and carving steels
Fine late 19th century Swiss miniature minute-repeating carriage clock in silver niello work case, the circular white dial signed - Picar Fresard Lucerne, the movement stamped - Nocturne, the case decorated with leaves, with swing handle and bun feet, marked - 'Argent' and stamps, 8cm (key present) CONDITION REPORT General overall condition is good. Movement appears to be in working order but we have not had it going. Repeat mechanism also appears to work. We believe the movement to be of 8 day duration but are unable to confirm this. Case is in excellent condition
George III silver coffee pot of baluster form, with ornate spout, ebony scroll handle and hinged domed cover with gadrooned border and flame finial, on a circular foot, underside engraved - 'M. L. 1793' (London 1770), Charles Wright. All at approximately 26ozs, 26.5cm overall height CONDITION REPORT General overall condition quite good, some scratching and surface wear. The bulbous part of the baluster shape has a band of denting all around the body. Both sides may have had engraving removed or dents removed at the same time. No signs of repair or damage, marks are clear. Fully marked on base and lion passant on cover rim

District Commissioner from the officers of the CALCUTTA BOY SCOUTS ASSOCIATION. August 1917', on three leaf scroll feet (Sheffield 1916), maker - T. E. & Co. Ltd. All at approximately 27ozs, 30.8cm diameter.N.B. Alfred Donald 'Pickle' Pickford was a major figure in the Boy Scout Movement in India from its inception in 1909. He campaigned with J. S. Wilson for admission of Native Indian boys into the Boy Scout Association and became Calcutta District Scout Commissioner in 1917. He was appointed Chief Scout Commissioner for India in 1919 and knighted in 1920. He received the O.B.E. in the 1946 New Year Honours
