Tudor Silver Gilt Dress Pin. Circa, 16th century AD. Silver, 8.19 g, 97.58 mm. Pin head, 18.21 mm. A large Tudor period dress pin formed of a long tapering shaft and spherical head. The head is beautifully decorated with granules in and around large filigree circles, each enclosing four small filigree hoops. From an old English collection, purchased from an Essex jewellery collection.
Tudor Devotional Hat Pin Circa, 16th century AD. Silver, 2.56 g, 14.87 mm. A beautiful silver with gold git hat pin or badge. The face of the badge shows a depiction of three figures. The centre figure appears to be being slain by the figures at his side, each brandishing a sword. Most likely a representation of Thomas Becket being murdered by the kings knights. Ref: B. Read. Stuart Period Silver Swivel Seal. Circa 17th century AD. Silver, 1.61 g, 19.51 mm. An exceptional little swivel seal matrix formed of an engraved solid frame with integral suspension loop. The seal face is octagonal and spins within the frame, detailed on one side with a flower and on the other with a bird holding a branch in its beak. Ref: for similar see: PAS, SWYOR-EECD3E.
