The preserved hoof of "Pioneer" winner of the 1846 Grand National, mounted in silver by Edgar Finlay & Hugh Taylor, hallmarked Birmingham, 1888, to form a jar & cover supported on a horse shoe and surmounted by a handle designed as a jockey cap and crossed riding whips, the hoof applied with the lettering PIONEER. Pioneer was a very early winner of the Grand National, triumphing in the 8th running of the race on 8th March 1846. The race attracted a then record field of 22 runners with Pioneer, an unquoted outsider, coming home three lengths to the good under his jockey William Taylor

†Hare Coursing: The trophy for the 1931 South of England Cup in the form of a silver-gilt cup & cover and plinth by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd, hallmarked London, 1930, the imaginative design including handles designed as greyhounds chasing hares issuing from above Bacchus masks on the rim frieze, the lid with a band featuring hares amongst ferns and foliage and surmounted by models of a hare courser with a pair of greyhounds, the stepped cubic plinth inscribed SOUTH OF ENGLAND CUP, WON BY SWAHILI, 1931, in original fitted wooden carrying case, with key, overall height of trophy when mounted on plinth 30.5cm., 12in., overall weight 1,084gr., 34oz. 17dwt.
The trophy for the 1958 Imperial Cup Hurdle, in the form of a silver replica after the antique of the Warwick Vase, hallmarked London, 1906, the base inscribed IMPERIAL CUP, WON BY, MRS R.D. VALLANCE`S "FLAMING EAST", 1958, height 27cm., 10 1/2in., weight approximately 3,500gr., 112oz. Flaming East victory in the 1958 Imperial Cup provided the first major winner in the career of the celebrated amateur national hunt jockey John Lawrence, Lord John Oaksey. Mrs Ricky Vallance`s Flaming East had won the County Hurdle at Cheltenham the previous season.

The FIFA 1970 World Cup winner`s medal awarded to Brazil`s Everaldo Marques da Silva, in .750 continental gold, signed Peka, the obverse inscribed F.I.F.A., the reverse inscribed CAMPEONATO MUNDIAL DE FUTBOL, COPA JULES RIMET, MEXICO, 1970. In winning the Jules Rimet Trophy for the third time the Brazilian team of 1970 made history in doing so and produced some of the most breathtaking football ever seem. Arguably `the team of the century,` Marion Zagalo`s Brazilians defeated Italy 4-1 in the World Cup final played at the Azteca Stadium, Mexico City, on 21st June 1970. Everaldo Marques de Silva, squad number 16, played in every Brazil game during the tournament with the exception of the quarter-final v Peru. Known simply as Everaldo, the left-sided defender was born 11th September 1944 in Porto Alegre and played his club football for Gremio. The golden star in Gremio`s club flag was added in 1970 in homage of his part in the World Cup victory. Everaldo won a total of 29 international caps between 1967 and 1972 and appeared on a losing Brazilian side on just one occasion during his career in October 1968. Other career honours included the award of the Brazilian Silver Ball in 1970, winner of the Roca Cup with Brazil in 1967, winner of the Campeonato Gaucho in 1964, 1966, 1967 & 1968 with Gremio and winner of the Rio Branco Cup in 1967 also with Gremio. Tragically the Brazilian World Cup winner died young, through fatal injuries sustained in a car crash driving his Dodge Dart near Santa Cruz do Sul on 28th October 1974. He was still playing professional football for Gremio at this time. This auction offers a rare opportunity of acquiring a World Cup winner`s medal associated with the `Beautiful Team` of 1970 and is sold with various papers of provenance.
