DEER SLOT INKSTAND the three feet supporting a silver plated inkwell, inscribed E Pinford-Wilsham 27-9-38. Also with a Deer slot in the form of a lamp, dated 1963. 6 1/4ins (16cms) high *This inkstand is made from three slots of a Deer taken by the Devon & Somerset Staghounds on the 27th of Sep 1938, on the same day Neville Chamberlain had gone to Munich.
A FLINTLOCK SPORTING GUN. Browntwist 32" barrel with Bond of London on the top. Roller frizzen action with swan-neck hammer, W Bond on the ornately engraved lock. Some silver mounts and escutcheon plate, otherwise steel furniture. A wooden ramrod below the barrel and an overall length of 48".
AN IRISH PERCUSSION PISTOL. Converted from flintlock to percussion by the barrel & nipple method, sliding safety catch. Clarke on the action and Clarke Dublin on the octagonal 8" barrel, with gold band. Chequered grip with silver escutcheon plate, steel furniture with a ramrod, 13.5" overall length.
A 19THC NAVAL OFFICERS DRESS SWORD. An East India Company naval officers sword with rampant lion above a slanted anchor on the guard, again above an anchor on the blade. Lions head pommel folding guard and sword knot with gilt and leather scabbard. The 29" blade is very clean with foilage decoration and has the mark Silver & Co, 66 Cornhill,London. They are listed as working at this address 1839 onwards, later becoming Silver & Benjamin 1899-.
A TERRITORIAL DECORATION GROUP OF SIX. 1939/45, Africa & Italy Stars, Defence & War Medals, QE11 Efficiency Decoration dated 1952 on the reverse. Mounted for wear with a matching set of miniatures, all awarded to Cpt Oliver Bryer RA. With an original name tag Cap H O Bryer 28289 also a silver waist belt R Artillery clasp back.
TWO CASED SILVER PRIZE MEDALLIONS. Both awarded to Mr White of Fouracres, Durston, Taunton, for best beast in class. The first engraved for Class 111 dated 1852, the second for Class 1 dated 1856, by the Goldsmith & Silversmiths F L & I W Thomas of bond St. 48 mm diameter.
