Lot 28

A George III Irish silver waiter, possibly by Thomas Townsend, of circular form with scalloped border raised on three paw feet, with later decorative engraving and crest to centre, 15.6cm diameter, weight 6.51oztCondition Report; Overall condition is good. Moderate to heavy denting to centre, sides, reverse and feet. Some knocks and small dents to the highpoints of the cast border. No large denting or splitting. There is quite heavy wear to the original decoration. The casted rim and the paw feet have lost definition. The marks to reverse are very heavily worn, and there is a crest to the reverse which has been very heavily polished and is only visible under reflected light (see additional images provided). Decoration to centre is crisp and clear.

Lot 31

An early 20th century novelty silver pin cushion by Adie & Lovekin, Birmingham (date letter worn), realistically modelled as a bulldog, 7cm long, 5.5cm high, weight 1.52oztCondition Report; Overall fair. There are areas of repair to the back legs, and signs of further repairs concentrated around the legs. There are small areas of splitting, mostly concentrated around details and highpoints, as well as beginning signs of splits to other areas. The body and face has a moderate scattering of small to medium dents, moderate scratching and wear. The velvet of the pin cushion is in good order, minor wear and tear only, but may be a later replacement. Date letters are worn, but the maker's mark, city letter and lion passant are all legible. A George V silver and white metal cased tape measure by Crisford & Norris, Birmingham 1914, of circular plain polished form with retractable internal tape, 3.7cm diameter, weight 0.91oztCondition Report; Moderate denting to the case and the the push-button mechanism. Heavy scratching and wear to the sides consistent with age and use. Heavy wear to the nickel plating on the drum. The internal tape is quite heavily bent in places. It pulls out with ease, however the push-button mechanism to retract the tape is stiff, and quite a stop-start motion.Please note: only the sides of the case are hallmarked silver. The internal drum is stamped 'NICKELED' and the tape itself is not marked. 

Lot 35

A pair of Edwardian silver twin-handled vases by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company, London 1909, each of tapering octagonal form with flared necks on domed feet, each 15.5cm high, gross weight 15.78ozt (2)Condition Report; One example shows signs of damage and repair to one of the handles. When viewed from above, the gap between the damaged handle and the opening is much more narrow. There is also solder repair marks visible to the underside (see pictures). The other handle has a crack developing where the handle meets the neck.The other example has possible signs of solder repair beneath the rim where the handles meet the neck (see pictures). There are cracks developing on both handles where they meet the neck (see pictures).Both examples show small dents and a moderate amount of scratching to the bodies and handles. No splitting or punctures other then those already stated. Hallmarks to both are worn, but are legible (additional images are provided).

All pieces show a minor to moderate degree of denting, wear and tear. The two circular open salts, two pepperettes and singular open salt show minor to heavy splitting and heavy denting. Signs of repair to the handle of the push spoon. Moderate degree of bending to the stand, and moderate denting to the blades of the scissors. Oval salts and mustards contain glass liners, and are in tact.

Glass liner in tact, with no cracks or losses. Some denting to body, feet and cover, general scratching and wear. Cover opens and closes with ease, but does not sit completely flush. Beginning signs of splitting where the cover meets the hinge. Spoon in good order, but handle is slightly bent.Salt and Pepperette: Good order. Some denting to the high points, general scratching and wear. No splitting or signs of repair. Covers detach with ease.Stand: Good order. No major dents, splitting or repairs. General scratching and wear only. Stand sits flat on a level surface.

Moderate denting, concentrated on the cover. Moderate scratching and wear. No splitting, thinning or signs of repair. Moderate wear to the engine turned decoration, mostly around the edges and corners. Hinged cover opens smoothly, and closes with snap. Cover does not sit completely flush. Elasticated strap is partially broken and frayed to one side.vesta: Good order. Some denting, mostly concentrated to the corners. General scratching, wear and tear consistent with age and use. No splitting, thinning or signs of repair. All engraved decoration is crisp. Hinged cover opens relatively smoothly, and closes flush with a snap.

All pieces show a moderate amount of scratching and general wear to silver and enamel. A few have small dents and minor splitting around the lip, but no signs of thinning or repair. All examples open with ease and close flush, except for the example pictured middle left, which does not close flush.

A Victorian silver desk clip by William Comyns, London 1896, in the shape of a heart decorated with Reynolds angels within a scrolling foliate border, 10.5cm x 8.5cm, weight 3.26oztCondition Report: Overall fair. Moderate scratching and general wear. Moderate amount of denting, mostly concentrated to the highpoints of cover and the reverse. Resoldering marks present around the hinge. Some bending to the top of the clip, just behind the hinge (see pictures for illustration). No splitting. Hinged mechanism opens smoothly and closes to a point. Moderate wear to the tip of the heart.

Lot 50

A cased set of six George V silver napkin rings by Henry Griffith & Sons Ltd, Birmingham 1937, each plain polished D-shaped ring with raised rims, 2.13ozt, the fitted domed case 13cm longCondition Report;Overall condition is good. None of the rings so major denting or signs of repair. On the inside of the rings, there are scratches and the beginnings of splitting, varying from a few to many across all pieces (please see pictures for illustration). A couple of the rings show some slight denting/misshaping to the rims.The condition of the box is poor. There is very heavy wear and discoloration to the silk lining in the lid (as seen in pictures). There is also wear to the purple velvet lining of the box and dividers, most concentrated at the highpoints. The leather exterior is heavily worn and scratched. Hinges to the lid seem secure, and the latch opens and closes smoothly. Please note: the dividers in the box are fitted to the base and not the sides, and can be adjusted accordingly.

Central panel is in good order, no splitting, chips or major losses. Some scratching and small areas of loss and wear to the central crest. The piece shows general scratching and wear commensurate with age and use.

No cracks, chips or losses to the glass. General scratching and wear consistent with age and use. Heavy scratching and wear to the leather cover. Some small dents to the lid, moderate scratching and general wear. Bayonet mechanism is in working order, and cork to lid is still present and in tact, though is slightly loose.Cup: Heavy scratching, particularly on the base, some pitting concentrated at the corners and edges. Engraving is clear. Gilt interior shows moderate wear and scratching. No splitting, large dents or signs of repair.

Lot 65

A George III silver cream jug, marks for George Smith (II), London 1778, of baluster form on domed circular foot with leaf-capped scroll handle, punched bead border, 12.2cm high, weight 3.25oztCondition Report; Possible signs of repair to the bottom of the handle and the underside of the foot (see pictures). Small, shallow dents around the body, and moderate scratching and wear. It appears there may of been a crest to the front at some point, but this has now worn away almost completely. The foot has some denting/misshaping to the rim, meaning it does not sit flat on a level surface and has a wobble. No splitting, major dents or punctures.
