A George III silver chafing dish, the circular dish with beaded rim and twin loop handles, the domed cover with urn finial engraved a fine armorial, the burner engraved a crest, all London 1775 the dish and cover maker's mark WC, the burner by Jas. Young, 30.5cm wide, 29oz all in; on a wirework stand, unmarked. The arms are those of WILSON impaling PATTEN quartering BOLD and probably engraved for an ancestor of John Patten Wilson, MP 1832-74 created Baron Winmarleigh of Winmarleigh, Lancs and died 1892. Lord Winmarleigh was Chief Secretary for Ireland 1868 Constable of Lancaster Castle 1879-92. His ancestral home Bank Hall, became the Town Hall of Warrington, Lancs.
