Rare Antique WWII imperial Japanese Army Officers Helmet & Caps x 2 original owners collection.Collection of Officers Helmet & Caps x 2 , Officer SASAKI name written inside the green cap .DAITO ASENSU translation = " Greater Eastern Asian War" is written on the Left side of the Helmet, the term used by the Japanese government for the Pacific War.Right side is written in Japanese " At Last , The War Is Over " .Poignant reminder of the extreme suffering All involved Endured.Small Silver officers star IS original to this helmet ; original head liner Excellent condition Paint original excellent condition ; by mid 1942 Japan was running out of resources to manufacture equipment ; Some Helmets made from Leather Painted Green & Helmets made from thick compressed Paper Painted Green were issued to soldiers.So dire were the circumstances in Japan by 1943 Japanese people I have spoken to in Japan say they recall eating boiled grass.So anyone wanting to split hairs over this being an officers Helmet....By 1943 IF you were issued a metal helmet at all you were very Lucky, and the term Civil Defense helmet, these were the Helmets for the masses, by Mid 1942, there was little distinction between grunts & officers every soldier was doing it Hard.
