Henry Jones in ye Temple, a late 17th Century ebonised bracket clock the eight-day duration, double-fusee movement with verge escapement, bob pendulum and now striking the hours on a bell with signs of former quarter repeat work, the backplate engraved with floral decoration and maker's name Henry Jones in ye Temple, the six-inch square brass dial having a raised chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals and fleur-de-lys half-hour markings, with a matted centre and cast-silver cherub-head spandrels to the four corners and strike/silent aperture to the top, the ebonised bell-top case with brass carrying handle, finials and escutcheons and standing on bracket feet, height 38cm.With restorations and alterations.Biography Henry Jones, born circa 1631, was apprenticed to the eminent clockmaker Edward East in 1654 becoming a Freeman of the Clockmaker's Company in 1663. He continued to work for East until at least 1672 after which he worked at Inner Temple Lane. Jones died in 1695.
