Maurice Delannoy (1885 - 1972, French sculptor and engraver of coins and medals). An early 20th Century Christian religious bronze medallion, depicting the Virgin Mary standing mourning at the foot of the Cross, with legend "Mater Dolorosa", verso a vacant reserve framed by a Crown of Thorns plant, 59 mm [Delannoy studied at the Ecole Germain Pilon where he was a pupil of Charles Valton & Jules Edward Roine. He was an associate of and exhibited at the Society of French Artists and received a bronze medal in 1923 and a silver medal in 1926.
