MAUREEN EDGAR SILVER AND ENAMEL TEA CADDY, London 1979, of oviform, the exterior with enamel decoration of stylised foliage on a midnight blue ground, 16cm high, 645g Note: Known as ‘the Scottish enameller’ to many, Maureen Edgar (b.1949) is one of Scotland’s most prolific living decorative artists. She trained in the traditional form of enamelling at Dundee’s Jordanstone College of Art and opened her own studio in 1980. Edgar’s sophisticated designs focus on detail and are of a distinctive quality, demonstrated by the national and future historical importance placed on her work. Examples of her work feature in the collections of The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths in London and The National Museum of Scotland among others.
