Three stationary boxes/caskets, 19th century, comprising: a George IV scarlet tortoiseshell 'Boulle' and rosewood lined stationary box, 21.1cm wide; a Victorian ebony and silvered-brass domed stationary box, 21.2cm wide; and a pierced brass casket, 18.5cm wide (3)Provenance: Christie's, London, Gloria: Property from the late Dowager Countess Bathurst, lot 178.Condition Report: The boulle stationary box: some missing areas of tortoiseshell veneer and brass inlay to the exterior, a small area is lifting slightly, two areas have brass inlay held in place with tape, the underside with worn leather, the hinged lid opens smoothly, the stationary compartments in generally good condition, with one box with sliding top present to the bottom left corner, the lining to the lid interior slightly worn with heavy dirt in corners, two compartment dividers are loose but present. No key for the lock. The domed stationary box: the ebony with light marks and scratches, the underside leather is worn, the silver with moderate to heavy tarnishing, the hinged lid opens smoothly, the lining to the stationary compartments is worn with loose threads, two leather twin compartment boxes faor matches and stamps present to both corners of the box. No key for the lock. The brass casket: some tarnishing and small areas of verdigris, the underside lining is lifting slightly, the hinged lid opens smoothly, the interior lining in generally good condition with surface dirt. A silver and guilloche enamel cigarette case, Birmingham, 1899, Heinrich Levinger, with import mark, the cover with a Boer War soldier with bloodied head bandage and khaki uniform, 8.4 high, 7cm wide Footnotes: Note: Heinrich Levinger was an important Jugendstil jeweller and silversmith in Pforzheim, Germany.A cigarette case with similar image inscribed 'A Gentleman in Khaki' was sold at Bonhams, 20 October 2022, lot 100. 'The Gentleman in Khaki' is a line from Rudyard Kipling's poem 'The Absent-Minded Beggar', which was written in 1899 to raise money for the families of soldiers fighting in the Second Boer War.  Condition Report: This case presents well and is in overall good condition despite some well-executed restoration to sections of the enamel. There are no chips or cracks to the enamel. Examination under UV light reveals areas of restoration near to the green border and possibly some further restoration around the left foot of the soldier. One of these sections to the border also has a dip in the surface, hinting at the restoration present. The silver has scratches and light tarnishing, the marks to the interior are clear and legible, the clasp is fully functional. The rear of the case with monogram H. M. A Victorian coromandel vanity case, mid-19th century, the hinged lid with monogrammed cartouche enclosing a removable mirror, the fitted interior with lift-out compartment and fitted with various silver-gilt topped glass boxes, bottles and containers, with floral chasing and central monogrammed cartouches to lids, marked London, 1854, maker's mark JH, one circular lid is replaced, London, 1849, Halstaff & Hannaford (William Halstaff & Thomas Charles Hannaford), with partially fitted tray with manicure items and propelling pencils and pen, above a gilt-tooled tray, the lock mechanism marked S. MORDAN & Co. LONDON and PATENT with crown stamp, the front with flush push-release drawer below with hinged leather writing surface enclosing fitted jewellery compartments, 19cm high, 32cm wide, 25cm deep   Condition Report: This case and the contents within are in overall good condition and present well. The exterior: some wear including scratches and deep marks, cracks to sections of coromandel, and tarnished brass mounts, the underside has green felt lining. The case locks and unlocks smoothly with a push-release mechanism, opens smoothly, and locks into place on brass sliding hinges.The interior: the mirror plate is in good condition with only a couple of light scratches, the fitted interior has some light marks and losses of leather, the lift-out compartment has two small brass ringlets which lift the tray easily from its compartment. The glass containers and bottles with general surface dirt in the grooves of the hobnails and minor nibbles to edges and some minor damage to glass including one cylindrical tall bottle with a cracked base, the other cylindrical bottle with minor chip to rim, one small rectangular container with chip to base, and the thinner rectangular container with chip to side rim and chips to corners. The silver-gilt tops are in good condition with light tarnishing, the silver-gilt beaker has moderate tarnishing in concentrated areas and is slightly misshapen to rim, the leather tray to the interior has smart gilt tooling which has not faded. The various manicure items have considerable tarnishing and some rust especially to the pliers and scissors, and there are associate pen and pencil holders. The vesta case has damage to the green enamel interior.  The push-release drawer: the mechanism is functional, the leather top has some creasing and marks, and lifts out easily to reveal a fitted compartment interior with some general wear to the leather and lining.
